There's an easy way to cut costs. Bite the bullet like WSU did and drop football. As much as I like football and occasionally wish WSU had it, its a tremedous drag on athletic budgets at the MVC level. If we hadn't dropped football I doubt we would be having our current level of success in basketball let alone our other successful programs.

I would not be surprised by a bit of a let down tomorrow night after Saturday's game. In fact, I could see a very close game for the first ten minutes that sees the lead change hands more than once. We are, after all, in the late middle of the conference schedule and there has to be a bit of a drag as the team slogs through the rest of the Valley. But this is our first crack at the Bears and I just don't see our defense slipping to the point the Bears will score more than 61 points this game and that will be the difference. It will be a double digit win to keep us on par with the Birds and in preparation for the rubber match with Loyola.

MSU passes on hosting MVC track meet due to expenses. WSU gets it now.
Increased construction costs and budgetary concerns have led Missouri State officials to formally withdraw as host of the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, University officials confirmed Wednesday.
They really are having financial issues if they can't get their facilities updated in two years for an event they actively wanted to host.

MVC: "Hey, yeah, so, remember how we talked about passing around some of those league championships to the other schools? Well, ha, this is gonna sound funny, but they are too low-rent to pull that off. I know, I know, I didn't see that coming either. Yeah. The thing is, we're gonna need you to do that. Oh, is it short notice? Didn't really think about that. Who's going to pay for it? Well, naturally we figured....."
Paging the AAC. AAC to Line 1, please.
