HCGM's Junkyard dog award. I'd be down with the SN "award" too.

    • Maybe we can make it a sticky post and list them as historical records for ages to come.

      • Maybe we could also have a "Player whose stat-line most poorly correlates to number of disparaging remarks made about him in the game thread" award.

In his post-game interview with Shane and Paul I don't think 3G was that impressed with 20 wins. However, I htink he is pretty proud of the 250 wins in 10 seasons. He said averaging 25 wins a season is pretty good especially considering his record was 28-37 after his first 2 years. The last 7 years the Shocks have averaged just under 29 wins a season.

I got the feeling that 3G thinks anything less than 25 wins in a year is below average and not up to his standards and expectations.

So, yes congratulate him on win number 250 at Wichita State but don't blow air up his skirt for a measly 20 wins in a season. I think 25 wins is the standard 3G is measuring a good team by. The good thing is that the Shocks should get there.

I think it's safe to say that Landry has been initiating the offense most but sometimes Conner brings the ball up and initiates.

                • Looked at the replay of Zach's flush at the end of the 1st half. When the the Drake shot came off of the rim there was about 5.5 seconds on the shot clock. Rashard was about 8 feet from the baseline. Only one Shocker, Zach Brown, and one Drake player were further from the Shocker's basket than Rashard. Still Rashard beat everyone else down court for an uncontested dunk. Just outstanding hustle and playing angry until the buzzer sounded.

and a beautiful, quick outlet pass from shaq morris to set up the whole play. that should be an assist.

                    • I also was impressed with the point forward work we saw out of Markis last night. I'm thinking we may be seeing more of that.

                      • When Rashard first got to campus, he excited me more than any of the other newcomers. His constant tip-dunks foreshadowed a player that new how to compete. I'm happy to see him dunking again!

CFs play has been very good on both sides of the ball for most of the Valley season. He makes this team better. Landry isn't a great PG. We don't have one of those right now, but Conner at the 2 is better for the team.

I did not think The elbow to the face was malicious. Dude braced for a collision rather than absorbing it. It wasn't "polite", but I don't think he tried to catch him in the jaw. The point of contact made the offense much more than the intent.

                        • Has anyone heard if Nurger is okay? He got up and looked all right, but I'd feel better if someone knows his official status.

13 points in 13 minutes. That's a solid game. He was definitely the spark we needed last night.

Sullentrop said he left the arena with ice on both his neck and ankle as a result of the collision. He did look a bit hobbled for the few minutes he played after the crash. I have heard nothing about availability or any missed practice time which leads me to believe that he will play tomorrow.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

IMO, Kelly needs to find more minutes. Not because he himself is a world-beater, but because he is playing Shocker basketball. He's barking out instructions on defense. He's diving out of bounds after loose balls. He's finally taking out 2.5 years of frustration with missing bunnies....on the rim. Heck, he's a horrific FT shooter, but when it was winning time last night, he made 3 straight. When he's on the court, the rest of the team follows suit. He needs to be on the court more not because of how great he is, but because of how much better the other 4 guys start playing when he's out there.

There was a great shot of Kelly as we were coming out of a timeout last night, maybe the under 4. As the players were going back on the court, including Kelly, it was very clear who was in charge. To me, he's the guy that appears to have picked up the "we ain't f***ing losing this game" that there has been a lot of around here for several years. He has less natural talent than some of those past guys, but not less than some others. Now that he has started displaying it more openly, I hope a month is enough time for that to rub off on a few teammates.
I could not agree more. Rashard is becoming the "Play Angry" leader of this team. I don't know if that's his intention or not, but it looks to come pretty naturally to him.
