With that said, win the next 9 and lose to a mid-level MVC team on Saturday... no worries. RPI in the upper 30s, KenPom around 20. 27-5.
A Saturday loss would likely be against a triple-digit RPI team. Not sure I want to test that theory either. If a loss has to happen in STL, I'd prefer it happen against Illinois State on Sunday.

    • Prefer a Sunday loss over a Saturday loss? Sure. Necessary if they win them all until then? Nope.

      • rashard turned the game with that steal and dunk.

        • I've been critical of Rashard and he still makes me nervous when handling the ball. However, he was certainly a key in yesterday's win. Also, I'm happy to see him going for dunks even though he had one rejected. I think he's much more likely to succeed with that approach than one of his dipsey doos. Plus, it sends a demoralizing message to the opponent.

Yes monster jams from Kelly seem to be his only reliable way of scoring. It's not hotdogging, it's that he can't hit anything else. I'll take it because we always need the highlights. No one else needs to know it's actually a handicap.

I am pretty sure that most all of those turnovers had little to do with Bradley D. Maybe a smidgeon. An itty, bitty smidgeon. A micro, itty, bitty smidgeon.

I just don't get all this complaining about playing games at dual purpose arenas. Half or more of the NBA plays on top of ice each night and we play a home game each year on top of the ice at IBA and shockernet is the only place I have ever heard it mentioned as a problem.

Serious question. Has anyone seen any evidence that playing on top of a hockey rink is a player safety issue?
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

                • I wish Kelly was a little better at finishing as well. Though it might surprise some to know that his 2pt% is better (though negligibly so) than Shaq's. It pretty much goes 1.Nurger 2.Willis 3.Everyone else.

And Kelly is bringing all the other things. And he is bringing them every night.

Do you watch college games played on hockey rinks? The amount of slipping is ridiculous. Maybe the NBA has figured out how to prevent the court-sweat. I don't know because I don't watch the NBA.

You can't complain about Kelly's effort, that's for sure. He's one guy that knows what to do when he's on the court, and it seems like he's getting more comfortable in his role.

                      • That block of Kelly was ridiculous. As much as I would have preferred the dunk, getting a 3 pointer out of the deal really stopped what could've been a big momentum starter for Bradley.

If I had been on the receiving end (and also had the hops to get my hand above the rim...), my hand would've been broken from that dunk attempt.

Maybe it's just a Valley thing.

And judging by its consistent string of technical blunders, I'd say that's more than possible.

I'm almost 100% sure the ice is removed for basketball games at IBA. There have been local media articles in the past referencing the logistical quick turn-around of going from basketball one day, to hockey the next, and it included talk of re-installing the ice and getting it cured, so to speak.

Plus, lacking even that context, it's clear the basketball floor at IBA sits right on top of the concrete floor grade. It's not thick at all.

I was under the impression the ice was not removed, just covered over with plywood. If you're correct 1 day is an extremely short time to get the ice ready for hockey. Perhaps some of the problem at other arenas might be inadequate insulation of the court from the ice.

I wish I could find the article about the quick turnaround logistics, so it doesn't look like I'm pulling it out of my rear, but my GoogleFu is lacking in this instance.
