  • WSU Versus S. Illinois Predictions and Pregame Discussions

Here's the Deal. You mean to tell me that we already swept the Trees before our friend Barry Hinson brings his solid rebounding Salukis to Our House? Tonight, UNI pays them a visit and that verdict will interest us. Gazing forward, we then want a sweep also on the cold and lonely road from the Braves and the BullDawgs before preventing them fire alarm, high karate, no watch Birds that are Red from sweeping us here. Such wins in a row would be great "meat and potatoes" for our soul and 'eggs in our beer'. Whoa Nellie!!! One game at a time 'Marshall Law' demands.

SIU lost Anthony Beane but as a team have been leading the Valley in offensive rebounding, blocked shots, and steals according to the Official MVC Basketball Site. Thik Bol and Sean O'Brien are 2nd and 3rd in the Valley in rebounding last time I checked while Mike Rodriguez leads SIU in scoring at just under 14 PPG. Last Season we defeated them 76-55 at home and 83-55 up yonder at SIU Arena. They are 11-9 and 4-3 as we await their game versus the famished Panthers tonight.

This Is 'The House Of Shock' I say and 'win we must' and I predict we will by 14. We want Shaq back like he played today. Under control, playing D without excessive fouling, and becoming the Leader that 3G is looking for. Look for some more 'double/doubles' which doubles our pleasure and our fun with or without doublemint gum. Look for our 4 guards to combine for 44 points. I really liked how our bigs' kicked it back to them swiftly today when covered up. Look for Willis to have a "finer than a frog-hair" game in this matchup. The two players I mention below were phenomenal players back when I was knee high to a grasshoppa.

Austin Reaves is the Shockers version of a Saluki. He is skinny but that dog can hunt.

SIU comes in here now at 11-10 and 4-4 after losing to the big bad Panthers in their second heartbreaker in a row, 58-57 in a home loss. The game before that, they lost in O.T. to Drake 88-84.

“At the 3:4o mark we had a five point lead and the timeout comes up and I said ‘We don’t have to score another bucket, all we have to do is get stops,'” Hinson said.

Halfway through the second half it looked like the Salukis would walk away with a win Saturday, but after a bad final eight minutes of play they fell to Northern Iowa 58-57. The loss put SIU (14-7, 4-4 MVC) in fifth place in the Missouri Valley Conference, while a win would’ve left them tied for third with Missouri State (14-7,...

Wow. I cannot believe a coach would say or even think that.......
Marge: The plant called and said that if you don't come in tomorrow, don't bother coming in Monday.
                    Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.

It DOES sound bizarre, but this may be a situation where context of the question may make it sound different than he intended...

OR....It COULD be Barry being Barry...:)

I can see a coach saying that if his team is playing tight on the offensive end of the floor and he's just trying to loosen them up, and then as you say, it doesn't translate well to the written word.

Thik Bol went to the middle school I work at. Cool seeing kids you've come in contact with playing D1 ball.

But never fear I'm rooting for my Shockers.

Another game, another win, but, no matter what, it is always thrilling to watch the Shockers.

If SIU plays like they did against UNI, this will get uglier than their mascot. Hoping to see Shaq continue his dominance. We need this Shaq to help us run the table the rest of the way and win in St. Louis.

                              Shockers - 85
                              Salukis - 68
