It's taken me a while, but I'm really starting to like games loaded with free-throw shooting.

The continuation rule was used a handful of times. WTF?

I continue to be surprised at the ticky-tack stuff they call, and the body blows they let go.

      Outstanding game by Shaq. .........sigh.......

Kelly was good, prolly 0-3 though.

I wonder when the national media will take note of Reaves' 3-pt %

Connor takes more than his share of buzzer shots, which affects his %

The place was half empty by the end of the game

I wish Coach would stay in the box

Steelers to cover and take the over in the NFC

Good things do happen when the Shocks shoot 41 throws and our foes shoot only 18. Shaq only had 2 fouls, 1 steal, 0 turnovers, and blocked 2 shots. Another key of team improvement is how when our bigs received passes inside and were not open, they kicked it right back to the outside. Shaq and Duff combined for 7 assists and that is impressive.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

C.J. is starting to show. Still a long way to go (watch him "close out" on a guy vs how Reaves does it...NO comparison).
His third basket was so cool. He was on the right side. Too far for a kiss shot or jam and too close for a jump shot. He put up an unhurried, confident, soft shot put like attempt. As Gus Grebe might say, "He put it in the deep freeze."

Perhaps ISUb should start a crowdfund for an athletic trainer. Apparently they don't have one.

Or maybe that's just a smart cost-saving technique. Counting on all other teams to have trainers present, so why would they need one?

I was really curious when they were actually going to send someone over to check on Kessinger (I think) when he got nearly knocked out (legally) by Shaq. It was a good solid 60-90 seconds before someone on the bench checked on him. Willis even checked on him before they did.

I liked our defense in this game.

I like that the crowd was the loudest when we had sustained defensive intensity for several possessions.

I like that the defensive intensity resulted in some favorable outcomes instead of unlucky bounces.

Positive reinforcement. This team has the firepower offensively. They've got to continue to buy in and improve defensively. There's no reason they can't be an elite defensive team by mid-February.

I'm curious on the 'stay in the box' thing...not that I care...I really don't...but I wonder 'why' you wish that....my least favorite coach EVER, Tom Crean(aka Dwight Shrute), is a box abuser...

100% agree. This team has the potential to be one of the best defensive teams in the Marshall era. Whether they reach that potential remains to be seen but the last game and a half are a good start.

Defense won't be elite until our point guards, collectively, can really pressure the ball and make it difficult to get the opponent's offense started by cutting off the drive without requiring help defense AND making the first pass difficult/impossible. Good perimeter shooting teams eat us up because they can make us offer help inside.

Think we have the guys to make that happen before the end of the year?

We have the athletes to do it ... they just need to understand the mental aspects of it. Without a doubt our guards are more athletic than last year.

                          • Last year we had two of the best defensive players in our history playing guard.

How do you define athletic? DS is very athletic, but Conner isn't as athletic as Fred. Austin isn't any more athletic than Baker, do you think? Shame to me is about the same athletically as Ron. Overall, I think Fred was sold short on being athletic
