that year when Marshall brings in 7 recruits, the remaining players will be

    Miitgard - 7'0" So C
    McDuffie - 6'8" Sr PF
    Keyser - 6'4" Jr SF
    Shamet 6'4" Jr - SG
    Reaves - 6'5" Jr - PG

Probably need a couple of JuCo's for immediate depth, but there should be a fairly solid core group to work with. Bench might be a little shorter that year.

        And Hamilton.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Let's be fair to Shaq for just a minute....he's back to as close to 100% as he's been all year.

          And damn, it shows.

Reaves continues to get better..... 54.3% from 3. FROM THREE. Please leave the freshman open.

13 turnovers all year. More than a 2-1 A/TO ratio. Damned near a 1-1 STEALS/TO ratio (12 to 13). 4th on the team in blocks.

No idea what his ceiling is, but it's pretty high right now.

Loved the crowd response for Shaq, and even more so, his appreciation of that response.

The crowd was crazy loud during Reaves little run in the 1st half.

The play he got the dunk on....I feel like that might be a little bit of a turning point for this team. That was a GREAT defensive possession, and Reaves gave 100% to close out and challenge the shot.

Maybe he doesn't get the block, but it's that kind of effort that champions give all the time. When this team realizes that, they can go far. FAR.

Rashard Kelly continues to do all the things winners do. Very proud of the young man's effort.

Landry Shamet is one of the 15 best players in the league. At least.

McDuffie looks more and more like an NBA player, and he will be some day.

Juco guys have hit a bit of a wall.

C.J. is starting to show. Still a long way to go (watch him "close out" on a guy vs how Reaves does it...NO comparison).

I did forget about Haynes-Jones. If he's a starter as a Sr, one of Shamet, Reaves, or Keyser won't be, and that would take some doing by SHJ.

I didn't forget about Hamilton. When he came in today, I told the person beside me that it was possible he could foul out before the game was over (there was 2:51 remaining as I recall). He had his first within 10 seconds. Marshall was pretty high on Keyser in his post-game comments to Kennedy.

Shamet has little or no hesitation to drive the lane. He didn't end up with any assists, but he was certainly able to make the defense adjust, and a defense that is adjusting is the first sign of a breakdown of the defense. Reaves is fearless driving to the hoop. There may be trees in there - he just goes around and in between them. Reaves and Shamet are both sneaky quick.
Same against Evansville. CF played mainly SG the last two games.

It got LOUD after Austin's block and huge dunk.

The team played pretty well for about 30 of the 40 minutes.

Keyser played pretty good as well in limited minutes

Austin, Shaq, Connor, Nurger, and Mcduffie to a point all played well.

Shamat, brown, kelly and mcduffie for half the game were average at times.

                good game and good crowd.

Felt bad for Hamilton, he came in and got called for a foul less than 15-20 seconds in!

Willis and Smith had some pretty rough times during the game... not their best.

As thin as Reaves is, it's not that hard for him to go in between the defenders.

Agreed. I feel Kelly should embrace picking up the Wessel mantle. There are a lot of ways Kelly can help this team. His thought process should always be "WWED?"

Austin's background of playing ball with his older brother and other older players points to why he has the courage to do what it takes to win. He is a class act and plays team ball. His last Season in High School required him to score a lot to help his team win. Here, he has adjusted beautiful to a different roles that Coach Marshall needs out of him in much less minutes than in High School. I am still miffed that the Arkansas Universities were not living on his front porch to keep him back home. Austin is a crowd favorite and it is not all all difficult to understand. Shamet leads the entire Valley in Assists to Turnover Ratio and Austin leads the entire Valley in 3-point pct. What a 1-2 Shocker punch from Freshmen!!!!!!!

So what would Evan Wessel do
                          If he were here today?
I'm sure he'd kick an ass or two
That's what Evan Wessel would do

Just the opposite here. I am very pleased that the Arkansas schools weren't after Austin hot and heavy.

My bad. I'm with you 1972Shocker. Miffed was the wrong word to describe my thoughts because I am happy as a lark Austin came here. These other Schools in his backyard should be the miffed ones. It also confuses me but in a good way that they did not go after Austin hard.

Not sure it is a big mystery. That Olive Oil upper body and those shoulders were certainly reason to wonder if Austin could hold up to the rigors of D-1 basketball. I am glad 3G and staff could see past those obvious risks athough 3G has not been shy about mentioning that as an ongoing concern with Austin.

While Austin's got game I think his biggest strenght is that he gets the game. He is also plenty tough and seemingly fearless.
