Not sure I have seen the exact statement but here is an article from Kentucky media criticizing the statement as very weak.

Still would like an appreciative response from ShockerNation the next time Higgy has one of our games, assuming he chooses to return to officiating.
I think the NCAA should assign Higgins to referee everyone of Kentucky's games next year then immediately declare a forfeit by Kentucky due to the extreme danger presented by the Kentucky fan base. This will continue unitl Kentucky takes concrete steps to effectively address and deal with the harrassment and threats that were made by their fan base.

        Barely anything.

An NCAA referee has met with law enforcement regarding death threats he has received from Kentucky fans following the Wildcats' loss to North Carolina in the Elite Eight.

        Here it is:

On Wednesday, Kentucky released a statement promoting good sportsmanship by Wildcats fans.
"While we were all disappointed to see a memorable season end on Sunday and we appreciate the support our fans showed our student-athletes all year, we encourage our fans to demonstrate good sportsmanship to everyone and discourage any other kind of behavior," the statement said.
Calipari also tweeted on the subject:

Just landed in Houston. Before I head to Phoenix, I wanted to take this time to thank our fans for their support all season long.

I always brag that we have the classiest fans in the country. Let's make sure we remain that way even after a tough loss.

Well no wonder I never saw it. Shove it, Calipari.

I agree wholeheartedly and hope he comes back to officiate. I love to bash on officials and think they're fair game as long as they're in their "official" capacity. As far as I have always been concerned, these guys didn't even exist outside of the court. I did believe that a fair number of them made officiating a near full-time occupation. The concept of tracking someone down and trying to ruin their family's life let's me know that people have really gone too far in how much they care about sports. They need to develop some hobbies.

That being said, someone needs to track down @ShockRef: and save Graham Hatch before it's too late.

Can the NCAA punish a school for what its fanbase does? If they do it during a game they can, but this is a blatant lack of institutional control and indifference by UK.

Not only has Calipari been extremely weak on this but he basicallly lit the spark with his immediate post game comments about being lucky to be in the game with all his players being fouled out or in foul trouble. He hasn't come close to walking that back in any way shape or form.

The only conclusion you can come to is that privately Kentucky and Calipari are okay with how Higgins, his family and his business have been harrassed, abused and threatened.

                • Maybe the refs should get together and agree to boycott calling Kentucky games. I'm pretty sure that would never happen but it would make a statement.

By the way, I took a look at the Kentucky board to see if they had calmed down after a couple weeks had passed. Nope. They are all, and I mean all, quite proud of what they have done to Higgins.

Lord, I wouldn't! I need a tetanus booster anyway, and after that I'd probably need rabies and hepatitis treatments as well!

An investigator for a Nebraska law enforcement agency says he is reviewing hundreds of confirmed or possible threats against an Omaha official who worked Kentucky's loss to North Carolina.

I liked that show. A woman I work with knew him from the swim team at USC.
