  • Here's some even more fun perspective: we may not have anyone even make the CBI or CIT or that other new one I can't remember, let alone the NIT. I mean, the NIT would be a raging success for someone this year.

I can only imagine. I'd wager a couple of them are entertaining thoughts of a miracle 2nd place finish with just a little help.

Also, at least 50/50 they win Arch Madness (among their own fans I mean). Probably up to 70/30 after beating SIU.

What's the guess on the number of points they score when they come here. They could only manage 49 at home vs SIU. I'm thinking 35?

We're 9-4 in the last 13 against UNI, the worst record against any Valley opponent. Both jokes last year, and in part the awful game at Crap Falls in '13 were due to an inability to get any pace in the game. When you try to beat them by scoring 10 points in a minute, they are going to frustrate you.

Walk the ball up, run back on D not contesting any rebounds, keeping possessions as low as possible. You have to have a strong mind set playing them.

To me, the UNIs look like they're probably headed for 9-9, maybe 10-8 (Warren Nolan guesses 10-8, for what that's worth), either of which -- in this mess of a league with two teams sucking up all the wins -- is likely actually to give them the upper hand for a #3 seed in St. Louis. So that leaves the question: which is better, to be seeded #1 and face the 8-9 winner plus someone from the SIU-Loyola-MoSt blob in the semis, or #2 with a date against the 7-10 winner followed most likely by a dose of UNI Uglyball?

Whatever keeps us from having to play Loyola. They're like Drake, except they have good athletes and give us trouble with their speed and quickness.

Your obsession with WSU is a complement. But your grammar is garbage.

That was the worst college basketball game I have ever seen. That is NOT an exaggeration.

                        Two just pitiful teams.

Nah. I think Georgetown beating Tennessee 37-36 a few years back might surpass that.

Heck, it might not be the worse game in the series. SIU beat UNI 46-45 in 2006. Granted, both teams were NCAA teams, but I remember that being U-G-L-Y basketball. Those mid-aughts SIU teams were masters of uglying up games.

Apples and oranges. I'm not talking about "ugly" here. I'm talking about two teams very thin in talent flailing around haplessly for 40 minutes. It was bloody awful.

Say what you will about those SIU teams from the "aughts," but "untalented" should not be anywhere in a post about those teams.

EDIT: "Flailing" was a poor choice of words, as it at least implies some sort of energy, of which there was NONE in that awful game.

"Ugly" and "untalented" certainly aren't the same word. The SIU teams from a decade ago+ definitely weren't "untalented" - quite the opposite really - but they sure as hell played an "ugly" brand of basketball, in the opinion of many people.

                              • In perhaps what most thought was the "toss up" Valley game of the weekend Indiana State is up 55-31 on Drake with 17:30 remaining after opening the 2nd half on a 13-0 run.
