Lol, just went over to read UNI's message board for a good laugh...one thread that are basically saying they will should only go to the NIT. That they are way too big to go to the CBI or CIT...give me a flipping break!

The Jailbirds have two realistic chances left for losses -- at MoSt, and at UNI to finish. WSU also has a home game against the UNIs Saturday -- damn morning tipoff -- which could well be a fairly ugly display; it's an Al Davis game. Just win, baby. The only other .500 team, SIU, is obviously capable of losing to anyone, and also has to play each of the two big boys.
So UNI not only has a clear leg up on finishing third, they also could have a lot to say about their semifinal opponent in St.Louis assuming form holds. If WSU takes care of its business, the UNIs could actually set up a rematch with IllSt by beating them in glorious Cedar Falls. Wouldn't that be fun -- playing Northern Iowa twice in a week?
Edit: By the way, Horn -- remember, you can't spell NIT without NI.

Hate it.
But in terms of talent and team ball, Loyola is better.

I just don't buy any UNI-love relative to the Top 2 this year. We got full-on Janssen'd UNI-floppy style, AT UNI, and still won comfortably.
ISUr played like cat-poop at home, without McIntosh, and won in reasonably comfortable fashion.
It's always possible UNI will have a fluke 3pt shooting day, but that's less likely against Top 20 defenses.

Their current "run" is against teams >150 RPI. They are the best of the dog poop in the conference

I think I'll stick with the hottest pile of dog poop argument for now.

The thing with UNI is they, over Jacobsen's tenure, have played very good underdog ball. Don't turn the ball over, play slow, muck the game up on D and force the other team into a 3pt shooting contest.
This will keep almost all your games close and when you are the underdog that will help you win more games than you should.
When the favorite does something like go 2-23 from 3 you can bank in two garbage shots and pull off an upset. This year, they don't have near the defense that they have had in the past and I can confidently say we won't be going 2-23 again.
