  • Lol, just went over to read UNI's message board for a good laugh...one thread that are basically saying they will should only go to the NIT. That they are way too big to go to the CBI or CIT...give me a flipping break!

    • The Jailbirds have two realistic chances left for losses -- at MoSt, and at UNI to finish. WSU also has a home game against the UNIs Saturday -- damn morning tipoff -- which could well be a fairly ugly display; it's an Al Davis game. Just win, baby. The only other .500 team, SIU, is obviously capable of losing to anyone, and also has to play each of the two big boys.

So UNI not only has a clear leg up on finishing third, they also could have a lot to say about their semifinal opponent in St.Louis assuming form holds. If WSU takes care of its business, the UNIs could actually set up a rematch with IllSt by beating them in glorious Cedar Falls. Wouldn't that be fun -- playing Northern Iowa twice in a week?

Edit: By the way, Horn -- remember, you can't spell NIT without NI.

      • I dont think the Shox will be denied this year, but it would be fitting to get UNI'd again... St Lewis is WSU's Kryptonite.

        Hate it.

Frankly, I'm more afraid of Loyola in the tourney than UNI. But then again, I always forget about the flopping and how much the refs by into it. And how much UNI can really muck up the game and ruin the flow for anyone. A repeat of last year is very possible...

But in terms of talent and team ball, Loyola is better.

Now don't get crazy. UNI has final four talent every year...just ask their fans!

Without Washpun last year, UNI wouldn't have been a threat to us. But I guess we will see this Saturday.

              • Both wins UNI had against us last year were due to horrible 3 point shooting. I'll give them credit for half of the misses. We are way better offensively this year. I don't see that happening.

                • I just don't buy any UNI-love relative to the Top 2 this year. We got full-on Janssen'd UNI-floppy style, AT UNI, and still won comfortably.

ISUr played like cat-poop at home, without McIntosh, and won in reasonably comfortable fashion.

It's always possible UNI will have a fluke 3pt shooting day, but that's less likely against Top 20 defenses.

Their best win is against 132 RPI Arizona State.

Their current "run" is against teams >150 RPI. They are the best of the dog poop in the conference

Maybe. They are the hottest of the dog poop, at least. They have losses to MSU, LUC, BU, and UE. That's not 1 or 2 "whoopsies." And don't get me started on the couple of games they were gifted against LUC and SIU.

I think I'll stick with the hottest pile of dog poop argument for now.

Or perhaps they are just the luckiest pile for now.

                        • The thing with UNI is they, over Jacobsen's tenure, have played very good underdog ball. Don't turn the ball over, play slow, muck the game up on D and force the other team into a 3pt shooting contest.

This will keep almost all your games close and when you are the underdog that will help you win more games than you should.

When the favorite does something like go 2-23 from 3 you can bank in two garbage shots and pull off an upset. This year, they don't have near the defense that they have had in the past and I can confidently say we won't be going 2-23 again.

                          • While I don't see any way Wichita loses on Friday, I wouldn't mark it a guarantee that UNI wins. If they run into someone like Evansville, Mizzou St, or SIU on Friday...i'd say the spread in that game wouldn't be too high. So we may not even get to see Wichita put UNI to sleep.

If i were forced to bet my house on either UNI Losing Friday or beating Wichita on Saturday, I'm taking the first bet.

                              • The big questions is, can Lusk pull off the ankle biter roll, and clip the Jailbirds this week?
