  • On the post game show MM said "They had some big dudes on that team..."
He also said they were surprised UL played a match-up zone on defense. They didn't prepare for that, assumed they would be in man-to-man.

          That is all.
I have read through the whole thread and this is the first jaw dropping post. I don't think you understand the game as well as you ref it.

This game was lost by a number of guys playing outside of their ability. Starting with Shaq's travel, his dropped defensive rebound, and a step back corner three that was all in a sequence. Zach than had a horrid defensive game followed up with a number of bad shots and missed free throws. RK didn't get anything done. I could go on and on, but at the last person on the list is CF.

          • On the post game show HCGM said a couple of guys were ready to play at this level, but several guys showed they are not yet ready. He specifically said CF and AR played well, but didn't name any others.

Judging by his posts, he doesn't ref it well either

              • I was ready for CF and AR to empty their magazine today and live with the outcome.

                • 2 Shocks over 30 minutes, the other 10 under 20. Tough to create flow/rythem. Rotation shrinks to 9-10.

                  • Well damn, not what I expected at all. But as others have posted, the Shox gave the Cardinals a real run there in the second half. Thought we were going to make it closer there when we got it to five, and was hoping Conner would just start taking his threes.

We'll have our hands full tomorrow as well.

                    • Never dig losing but the Shocks fought hard and will rarely play against such a solid defensive team. It was great experience for us and a win in the next game would be awesome. Playing ranked teams early will be a guide post to understanding what it takes to win at this level later on. Michigan State will be spitting nails so our hands will be full for 40. It is a winnable game but we must execute better than today in several areas to pull this off.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                      • first time i've thought wichita state looked mid-major, since, well, last november.

literally, they looked mid-sized compared to the cardinals.

You apparently missed our Valley tourney games with seniors on the team.

I totally agree. With no Ron or Fred, no seniors, a couple of freshmen, a sophomore, and 2 new Jucos being key in the rotation, and our first real test against a top 25 team, losing by 10 just shouldn't have happened.

Wow. Expect much? We won the second half by 6 and were in a position a number of times (and did fail) that one more bucket could have made it a whole new game. Yes, we blinked in the first half, but fought back. We set up a lot of obstacles against ourselves, but still managed to be in close striking range.

McDuffie cannot play 2 positions at the same time. In every game, one of Brown, Kelly and/or Willis is going to have to have a reasonable game by either playing better or not getting in foul trouble. The staff is going to have to figure out how to keep our opponents from having open 3s from the corner (this has happened in other games this year, it just didn't matter).

You are an idiot. CF was very good again today. Quit with the that is all because it never is. This is why nobody likes refs. Sorry but I'm fed up with your schtick.
