I just watch him running around screens but not getting separation from his defenders. That is just not his game, yet.

There are two ways of getting open that have little to do with his quickness. One is quick ball movement - which has improved throughout the year.
Isn't that what I said, he is not catching the ball in a good open shooting position?

The other is to have dribble drive penetration - if AR, DS, and LS add more of that to their games he will get open without quickness. CF has done some of that for others as well lately.
He still has to move to the right spots and not bring his defender with him. No question that it requires teammates and timing.

Conner is so much better when catching the ball, making a shot fake and a one-step move to get all the space he needs to have an open-for-him shot.

    • He's just ridiculous. He's going to have to miss a lot of shots before I am unhappy seeing him let it fly.

Me too. And yet, even with Conner on a tear and Landry slumping in St Louis, Conner still has not caught Landry in either 3-pt percent, 2-pt percent or FT percent yet. Gotta love the air of them

                • I think the last 5 posts of this thread need to be deleted, including mine.

                  • In case anyone was curious, SlyShock was wondering out loud how CF compares to the up and coming Tyler Brown. But he quickly realized how silly that question was as we all know the answer to that.

+1 (He's worried Tyler takes his roster spot)

Towards the end of the Ohio State game, GM had Ron play some 4 so that we could have another ball handler to combat Ohio State's press. If faced with a similar situation this year, could Landry do that?

Maybe...but I think we'd be better with Zach, Rashard, or maybe Markis.

                          • I imagine we'd have RK play more four than ZB or MM. No offense to the latter two, but Rashard seems to be much more in control handling the ball in transition than the other two.

This last half of the season, it's become incredibly clear that HCGM trusts Kelly with the ball.

I honestly am not sure who I'd prefer fighting a press between Kelly and Reaves anyway. Austin appears to still get the freshman jitters when faced with a press.

What a sign of how far Kelly has come that he is our most trusted ball handler among the forwards.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.
