Not only has Conner become a 50+% 3 shooter, he's a double issue. Other teams are so locked in on him, it's a downer when he just gets a shot away....you can see it in their body language. It's a "loss" when he just gets a shot off, and when it goes in, it's a dagger, and when does occasionally miss, it's only a brief reprieve.

Frankamp going to KU was the best possible thing to happen to him and us. Not that it was ever a real possibility, but if he had committed to WSU out of high school he's probably just filling a role with Fred and Ron up through his junior year. I'm so happy we get a full year of the current Frankamp after this season is over.

I loved when Gregg went 3 guards with Austin out there. Guard those 3 on the perimeter. Just try. Plus they're about 85% FT shooters. You better beat these guys early, because you're not going to beat them late.
I would not be surprised at all to see Austin have a tournament like another freshman did.......oh never mind.

The other impressive part of CF's shooting is he rarely gets a good look. My friend's guess is a majority of CF's "makes" wouldn't have been shot by any other shocker due to degree of difficulty.
To WuDrWu's point - having a third guard out there was intriguing and could help get CF more shots. The only "easy" shot of the tournament came after the dribble drive from Austin. It is rare to see any shocker drive with the intent of kicking it to a shooter. That concept seems natural to AR and it was the basic OU offense that made Buddy Hield a lottery pick last year.

CF has added a Steph Curry like aspect to this team; someone who is a threat once they cross halfcourt. The defense has to focus so much on him, it create opportunities for everyone else (see the fake shot, pass to Landry for a wide open 3 from Sunday).
Another thing we saw this weekend, that we haven't seen yet, is CF pump-faking then driving to the basket. Once he perfects that, look out.The Assman

But Conner can get himelf open with a viariety of step-back, side-step moves where he has nothing but wide-open daylight between himelf and the basket. He can catch, pump-fake and sidestep to 100 shots a game without breaking a sweat. Those are as open a shot as anyone on the team ever gets."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

There are two ways of getting open that have little to do with his quickness. One is quick ball movement - which has improved throughout the year.
The other is to have dribble drive penetration - if AR, DS, and LS add more of that to their games he will get open without quickness. CF has done some of that for others as well lately.

i don't think i've seen anybody in college ball since curry do what frankamp is doing now: consistently spectacular moves, not for the drive, but for the three point swish. that's curry-like all the way.
