Sure the nickname is already taken but Shamet and Frankamp are our version of the Splash Bros. Give either of those guys an inch of daylight at your own peril.

The overall team defense still has room to improve. If they can lock in for 40 minutes on that end...look out!

How did our KenPom AdjD drop to 22nd holding SIU to 37% shooting and 7.7% from three? We're up to #13 overall, though, between Duke and FSU.

How did our KenPom AdjD drop to 22nd holding SIU to 37% shooting and 7.7% from three? We're up to #13 overall, though, between Duke and FSU.

We allowed 1.01 PPP last night, so that's likely how it happened. SIU is 138 in AdjO currently. We certainly gave them too many trips to the line, and they ended up 21-24 from the charity stripe.

Wondered the same thing. 21-24 free throws is my WAG as I have no idea how it's calculated. I dunno. 22 is still pretty good but I think they can be even better.

Is there a rhyme or reason to why it seems like Connor doesn't hunt his shot the 1st half, then once he comes out of the halftime break, he looks like a man w/ his proverbial hair on fire?

I noticed Shaq looks like he starting to thin out on top as well.

Too bad talking heads like Jerry Palm aren't paying attention to how much better WSU is right now than when they played L'Ville and Mich State. Most of that, or a big part anyway, is due to Connor being much more confident (and Shaq being healthy).

He's a bit too unselfish... let's other guys try and get going. Then when it's clear things are stalled (close at half), he starts killing dreams with 3's.

I can come up with two possible reasons

1) Frankamp doesn't hunt his shot first half and Marshall corrects that approach at half time

2) Marshall tells Frankamp to try to set up interior passes at the beginning of the game. Then Marshall changes how he wants to attack in the second half. Like the press, turning Frankamp loose is more effective when it's unexpected.

I'm leaning toward #2. I think it's part of the game plan. It's sort of saving the weapon for when it can do the most damage. There's a lot of damage that can be done at the start of the second half.

I thought SIU blanketed him pretty well in the first half. He created two looks off the dribble then passed up a wide open three on the wing, instead tried a pass to Shaq right under the basket. Other than that I don't remember many opportunities and he's usually not one to force the issue. In the second half he was just open more often.

I agree and am leaning towards a third option not mentioned by @Aargh:. Opponent game plan is face guard CF with and w/o the ball. Half time adjustment says the off guard needs to help on defense to slow the Shockers down. CF gets loose and in a rhythm.

Conner is clearly a focus of the opponents defensive strategy. Sometimes it takes a while to loosen up the perimeter defense and get the looks he needs.
