Looking forward to a pod game! Any info on your team would be much appreciated.

Justin Bibbins is 5-8 but a very good point guard. Evan Payne is 6-1 and can score. He is an outstanding athlete who had three monster dunks last night. Gabe Levin is a 6-7 power forward who lpays hard and is skilled. They start a 6-6 freshman sf named Jackson. A hardnosed defender. Centers are 6-7. 6-8, and 6-9. All are limited offensively but play well defensively and rebound well. The two guards off the bench Blackwell and Griffin can both shoot the 3 ball . If they are on they can both make 4-5 in a row. Now against the big boy teams, I just don't know except they have played in big arenas all over the country and shouldn't be intimidated. Looking forward to a great game.

I expect a good game from a good team. Since we are relatively young, I would feel better with more time between games to prepare. However, after Friday I feel more confident Than after last Saturday. On the other hand because we are depending on new leadership, we may see an up and down team. But on the other hand, we still have Coach Marshall who is grounding our team and we are at home. Ok I think it will be a close game but we will pull it out in the end.

WSU opens at -13.5. I'm not sure what the Vegas consultants are smoking with that one. The money has, not surprisingly, flooded in on LBSU and it's down to -10.5.

I'd be pretty thrilled with a double-digit win. LBSU has been pretty decent in the Monson era and has scheduled like no other low/middy ever. Props to them for going out on the road and challenging themselves. Make no mistake though. This is a game we need to and SHOULD win. It ain't gonna be easy though.

Don't see it happening to LBSU
No doubt. How often have we given up 70+ the last 4 years?

It ain't happening against a Big West team at home. Sorry.

My prediction is that the Official Meltdown thread stays firmly buried on page 185. I'm feeling a big win that's leaves us all talking about this year could be more special than anyone thought.

It's game day boys and girls!

Love this time of year. Dallas Cowboys game and then Shocker hoops. Both will win. What could be any better than that?

This will be a close game but as long as our defense keeps them under 70, we're good. First team to 65 wins this game.

                        LBSU - 62
                        WSU - 72

It won't be close. Shox struggle early, turn it on late, and come out winning 74 - 61

The SCSU game, while fun to watch, hurts us more than helps. Playing such inferior talent did not prepare this team or knock any rust off. I'd venture to say that GM's practices are far tougher than what SCSU did.

LBSU is a big team, athletic and love to jack the three. While they not be as skilled across the board than us, their live and die by the three mentality will be the difference. I'm hoping the boys come out with some serious intensity, have totally forgotten about the game two days ago and front these guys every freakin' second of the game.

I think LBSU is off on their three game and we win by 17.

A brief stroll down memory lane:

Remember when L.D. Swanson beat Dan Fitzgerald's Gonzaga team (Monson was the lead assistant) on a three at the buzzer in OT in the semis of the '94 Cessna Classic? The Shocks would beat the Citadel in OT on another buzzer beater in the finals, then the swoon would play out that led to a 13-14 record in Scott Thompson's penultimate season. Meanwhile, Gonzaga would make their first ever NCAA tournament appearance that season, and a couple years later Monson would take the reins from Fitzgerald and elevate Gonzaga into a higher eschelon of the hoops hierarchy, a level Mark Few has maintained and improved upon since Monson's departure for Minnesota in the wake of their first run to the Elite Eight in '99. Since leaving Gonzaga, Monson has been back to the dance just twice in seventeen seasons as a head coach ('05 at Minnesota, '12 at LBSU).

This evening should be fun, and while I would take it, I am hopeful we want need another buzzer beating bomb to scrap out a dub against Monson & Co. more than two decades after L.D.'s dagger.
