CF is what he is - a 'catch and shoot' player and last night it was on full display for all to see.

He was able to do what he does best when Smith was in and running the show.
He ran off screens, created space, got his feet set and fired away upon receiving the ball.

For some reason you buffoons think I don't like him, which couldn't be farther from the truth. I banged my fist into the seat in front of me when he nailed his first bomb from 25'.

He did what he is capable of doing and did it well (and LB had much better players guarding than SCSU.

Not sure why that is so hard to understand (or accept).

    That is all.
Granted he did catch and shoot the one from Daishon, but he also had the pull-up 3 from 25 feet, the running teardrop in the lane and the ball fake spin move in the lane. I think there's more to his game than you're giving him credit for.

I disagree. Can he catch and shoot? Yes, of course especially off a hard roll.

Is he better as a catch and shoot? Absolutely not.

This is probably the most smug, condescending post I have ever read on this forum...and I disagree with your assessment.

        • How dare any of you insinuate or even have the belief that you are even entitled enough to have an opinion that doesn't agree with his highness? That's almost as bad as insinuating that those officials were anything less than the absolute best in the world.

You are so far incorrect it isn't even funny.

                Dan,
You are absolutely correct about his drive and spin in the lane. It totally caught his defender off guard, as he was not expecting any attempt by CF to drive.
That is one way for CF to possibly create enough space to get his shot off on the perimeter as most defenders are up in face at all times. He will need to continue employ a number of those type moves.

His lack of foot speed compared to the most D-1 guards will always be a challenge for him. He needs to continue to use his wits and creative moves to get the space he needs to release his shot.

                That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

                • FVV had a lot of foot speed too. ;)

You need to stick to the rules of the game because you fail to be able to analyze it. While quickness isn't a strength of his game, as it is to Daishon, it certainly isn't a weakness (same as Fred) to his game either. Just as we saw Conner improve his aggressiveness in looking for shots within the offense from Game 1 to Game 2, Conner is going to continue to improve his scoring output within the offense. While he doesn't ofte get to the rim, he does have a perimeter and mid-range game. Most importantly, he is still figuring out what Gregg wants from a leadership and scoring mix because he obviously is trying to add those elements we lost when Fred moved on to the NBA.

Trying to minimize the importance of foot speed in the collegiate game is a big time misjudgment.
Its all about foot speed and how to use it to your best advantage. Not having puts you at a disadvantage and better have other means to compensate to get on the floor.

You are the second on here trying to compare FVV to CF. Just stop it and stop it now. It's embarrassing.

FVV is playing in the league.

CF needs to enjoy college and concentrate on getting his degree.

                        • Some people can't seem to get over themselves. Too bad we can't buy them for what they're worth and sell them for what they think they're worth. We'd all be rich.

You are simply a moron. Neither Fred nor Conner are elite athletes. That is the only comparison several people have been making. You are saying Conner will be a marginal basketball player is because of his marginal athleticism and We disagree.
