My two cents: When you are talking about guys who cover Wichita State and woven into their coverage are some elements of the political landscape, that is gray enough that it's okay to talk about it in both forums. This is not a political debate. There is a good chance our association with Charles Koch is part of why certain people are not being objective with WSU basketball, and that is incredibly dumb, but it is relevant in the basketball forum.
This is not incredibly dumb, but grounds to have your media vote revoked. If I am asked to judge (or referee) any contest and I let anything other than the performance sway my decision, I should recuse myself. He openly admitted he is influenced by the Koch's presence. Be a man and give up your poll ballot.

    • Hilarious - I said tongue in Cheek, that Iowa State would be ranked. Guess it wasn't so funny. 19-9

      • Poor Gonzaga falls to #4. I bet they lost their 1 seed too.

And while I understand JH4P's sentiment, often sports get political entanglements simply because it is a highly publicized platform, just like with celebrities.

All that said, putting my post back on topic, #21 is better than I expected! Jerry Palm is a tool.
Well said. Agreed on all points.

Iowa State is #23 in KenPom, has absolutely zero bad losses, multiple top notch wins, and is on a hot streak the past few weeks. I really can't see any reason to fault them getting voted into a top 25 poll.

Iowa State may end up going the farthest of all the Big 12 teams in the dance. I would take OSU and them doing just as well as BU, KU and WV. Both are playing good basketball while the other 3 seem to be struggling.

Yeah but they only beat Drake by 17.

                  Zero bad losses?

Yes. KenPom adjusts "vs top 50" for home/road. #90 on the road = #50 neutral = #20 at home. He calls these "type A" games.

All 9 of Iowa State's losses are "type A" games.

They looked evenly matched as I recall.

That's very relevant to this thread considering he is one of the AP voters.
As a pollster, Davis is supposed to be INDEPENDENT and OBJECTIVE. If he can't keep politics out of it, he needs to quit. There have been times in my career that I had to make a choice to either be independent and objective or to sacrifice it.

I think people respect you more as a person when you do not allow anything to influence your independence and objectivity, especially if your role dictates judging by facts and not opinions.

                              • 21 matches my eye test. Hard to complain in either direction at this point, I think.

What a great job of improving throughout the season by this team. Kudos to the players and coaches.
