I told him I didn't want 300 level seating, that's all they had, and he said they'd have more info on the website if they would be selling anything to the public.
Come on, Han, old buddy don't let me down.

So, let's (very) generously assume OU has 8,000 season tickets locked in for the coming year (they averaged exactly 10,000 per game last year in their most hyped season in a couple decades).
Then, let's (generously) assume Chesapeake is going to block off part of the upper bowl in anticipation of crap butts-in-seats attendance, so they pare down the available tickets (reducing capacity from 18,203 down to, say, 15,000). This may or not be happening, but let's just assume that's the case for argument's sake.
Now, per today's sale, tickets were available in Sections 305-311, which comes out to almost exactly 2,000 total seats based upon a quick count on Ticketmaster.
So - ~8,000 tickets would be automatically spoken for because of the season tix package. I get that. 2,000 were put up for sale to the public. Where the hell did the other 5,000 seats go? Is there a ROFR that Thunder ticket holders and other venue customers have that is somehow capturing ~1/3 of the total tickets as holdback? I get that premium suite and license holders would have some holdback rights, but my goodness that is a huge number. Alternatively, if the ROFR is held by OU season ticket holders where they can exercise their purchase option for additional tickets after the public on-sale date, then that is pure and utter horse ****.
Pretty bizarre.

A lot of you must of had sour grapes for breakfast. Pull your heads out and take a step back.
1. Ticketmaster doesn't control the tickets. Tickets are controlled by the promoter of the event and/or the arena. Ticketmaster does what they say.
2. This is OU's game, not WSU's. Therefore they get first dibs on all tickets, like we do for games played at IBA.
3. Much like every other arena in the country I'm sure CEA has held back nearly a thousand prime tickets for their season ticket holders to have first dibs on and will release them if not claimed.
4. When OU plays at IBA next year, WSU fans will have the opportunity to sell out the arena before they are released to the general public...guessing OU fans won't have the same meltdown.
5. I'm sure they care what the crowd looks like on TV, but selling tickets is #1 priority and if OU has bought them all, then they're sold and the arena is happy.
6. Placing blame on our ticket office is ridiculous...They got an allotment which they use for players and families then released the remainder this morning to season ticket holders not knowing in advance how many they'd have. The people who bought them will be ranked in order of priority points. Priority points don't say who gets or doesn't get tickets this time...it was first come first serve.
7. There will be tickets on the secondary market and I'm sure they will go cheap, so just be patient.

I have been to multiple OU games each of the last 3 seasons and have NEVER paid more than $15 on the secondary market except for KU. OU people don't give 2 shats about basketball. All while Hield, Cousins, Spangler, et.al. were on the roster and OU basketball was ranked higher than their vaunted football team.
Chillax. It's OU were dealing with here.Basketball Season Tix since '77-78 . . . . . . Baseball Season Tix since '88

MM - question: did you get tickets yesterday or are you waiting for secondary market? Called ticket office yesterday at 10:20 and simply asked if they were selling tickets. Reply was they were all gone already. Called back at 10:30, mentioned I was season ticket holder. This time they checked my status, then told me their allotment was gone and that I would be placed on a waiting list in case of cancellations. Dont understand your your comment on priority points unless the waiting list will be by points? Unless they were out of their allotment within 30 minutes, which is possible, it definately was not first come first served.

The actual purchase of the tickets was first come first served apparently.
