I think that's a figure of speech. He wasn't literally needed to protect his players. Shaq could pretty much take care of that on his own. The meaning is he was not going to allow cheap shots and rough play not being called to go unnoticed. He was going to stand up for his players.

      A- performance.

You offer a false choice. Many coaches show great emotion, get fired up, and even make some mistakes and get technical fouls from time to time without acting like a child having a complete meltdown.

        Embarrassing. It was utterly embarrassing.

He does get animated. He does get after the officials....but does it in the way that has been deemed acceptable by the NCAA and by the coaching & officiating communities. Marshall has only been ran on one occasion off the top of my head, and that was in St Louis. Otherwise he has effectively doubled his career technical fouls received count in the last 4 days.
And I would suffice to say that what happened last night happened because this was the most unfair treatment he felt his team has ever received. Regardless of who we were playing, or where, GM is still the figurehead of the program. That being said, you can bet your ass he is going to err on the side of fierce loyalty. He knows he can't get away with any of that in an NCAA game. To me, he seems to be right on the brink of what we saw last night, but never would do that in a regular season game.

There are a lot of total jackasses in rec leagues. I prefer coach not fall down to that low level of behavior.

As I responded earlier. Had to use my phone to stream the game to my TV. Didn't have another device to browse the forums while watching. Watching the Shox > posting on the forums.

Was it Missouri State shortly after Merrill Andrews reportedly spit on Fridge Holman?

Really stooping to that? ... I'll bow out of this if you are just going to resort to basically calling me a liar.

We don't know that, and if they were certain of that they would have let him go.
