  • Ron Baker was a Knick, and now is a Wizard!

Someone was bound to make this thread, it might as well be me.

Until reports surfaced that Fred was going to play up in the Great White North, that marked the last three Shox in the pros to play for NY. Crazy.

The Knicks don't have many options at the moment at the 2-gaurd, so Ron could have a decent shot at some NBA minutes.

It means exactly what it's called, how is this difficult?

If he doesn't make it or gets let go later he is not owed entire amount of contract. He is only guaranteed a partial amount of his contract.

It means he is making at least the league minimum for the period of time from now until they let him go. Also, There is some minimum amount they have to pay him if they let him go tomorrow.

Not a bad first gig if you can get it!

Both Fred and Ron are business savvy and made the best business decision instead of just getting their names called on draft nights second round

A blurb in the New York Post on the Knicks with Ron on the cover page.

The Knicks had just five players on the roster entering draft night Thursday and without a draft pick or a point guard other than the newly acquired Derrick Rose. Knicks president Phil Jackson had …

According to a source, they likely will ink Wichita State guard Ron Baker to the summer-league team. He was a four-year starter for the Shockers and a teammate of Cleanthony Early, the Knicks’ 2014 second-rounder. Baker averaged 14 points on 42.4 percent shooting as a senior.

It’s not entirely surprising that Baker wasn’t selected at the 2016 NBA Draft. A small-school star, he carries the stigma of being a college specialist whose game won’t translate from the Wichita State Shockers to the Association.
Yes, clearly Ron was an unproven small school talent who never had the chance to prove himself against the big dogs like Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Louisville, Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas, Notre Dame, and Arizona under the bright lights. He is very much an unknown quality.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Yeah the Pan Am games really showed that he doesn't belong at that level too.

Mysteries of life. Can make 39% of 3 balls and is a poor free throw shooter.

                            Ron's career statistics

                            37% from 3 point lane
                            80% from the charity line

                            Not spectacular but solid.

The poor free throw shooter remark was about Wayne Selden.
