I got to talk shop with Mark Adams before the OU game which will be Mark's first Shocker game of the new season. He's candid and insightful as ever, with some great stories. We talked his game prep and how he approaches it like he's coaching, Ron & Fred and his high praise and claims of NBA talent long before graduation, a bit about his and Mitch Holtus' relationship on and off the broadcast. Oh, and what he thinks is the main factor of WSU success, I'm sure you can guess.

On a completely unrelated note, I wish they'd sell beer at CKA. That is something I enjoy about the annual IBA game. Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

"NCAA Basketball Rankings: Heavy’s Top 30 for December 11" - Heavy Sports
There aren't many changes at the top of the power rankings for this week, with Villanova remaining in the top spot.
29. Wichita State
Record: 9-2
Last week’s ranking: Unranked
AP ranking: Unranked
Coaches’ poll ranking: Unranked
Games last week: W 75-45 vs. Saint Louis, W 76-73 vs. Oklahoma
Games this week: vs. Oklahoma State (12/17)
Breakdown: The question asked of Gregg Marshall’s program by some was just how big of a drop-off would there be with guards Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker now in the NBA. There’s been no such issues through 11 games for the Shockers, whose losses came against Louisville and Michigan State at the Battle 4 Atlantis Thanksgiving week. Wichita State was dominant in its home win over Saint Louis Tuesday night, limiting the Billikens to 0.66 points per possession and 25.9 percent shooting. Saturday’s game against Oklahoma was much tougher, but Zach Brown scored 17 points, Daishon Smith 13 and Darral Willis 12 in the Wichita State victory. Wichita State has this week off to deal with final exams, with a home game against a good Oklahoma State team set for Saturday. According to KenPom.com the Shockers are ranked third nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, and regardless of who’s wearing the jerseys Wichita State’s track record makes it known that they will “play angry” and get stops.

Wichita State took a massive step toward proving it will remain nationally relevant without graduated stars Ron Baker and Fred VanVleet. The Shockers notched their most impressive victory of the season on Saturday, a 76-73 win over Oklahoma in pro-Sooners Oklahoma City. Strong defense carried Wichita State against Oklahoma just like it has in so many previous big games.

"Who is the most underrated team in the country? — Josh Nelson (@SSS_joshnelson)" - Sports Illustrated
This is more like it. Who has reason to hope during this most wonderful time of the year? Let’s go outside the top 25. Here’s my starting five:
"1. Florida (7–3).
2. Wichita State (9–2). The Shockers, who almost came back to beat Michigan State on a neutral court on Nov. 25, just notched an impressive win over Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. They don’t have any great offensive players, but they do have a deep bench with lots of interchangeable parts. They are also ranked fourth in the country in defensive efficiency. That’s evidence of a winning culture.
3. Texas A&M (7–2)
4. Seton Hall (8–2)
5. Middle Tennessee (9–1)
