I'm also hoping that we can drop the Evan discussions. To paraphrase what Donald Rumsfeld once said 'You go to war with the team you have, not the team you'd like to have.'

Tthat's what I'd call an example "Periperal Vision." It separates the champs from the chumps... Sorta like hittin' the boards. Thanks shocka for reinforcing that prinicple.

    Now, onto "LaBelle Province!"

Thanks, WstateU -- on topic? What a novel concept.

When it comes to arguing, especially during the long, boring offseason, apparently all threads are fair game and PMs (try it, guys, you'll like it) are off topic.

It might have to be a newcomer. Or, Shamet or McDuffie could fill that role.
Could be Willis. Could be Shaq. Could Be Rashard or Zach. I think we've seen signs of it from all of them. Either way, based on you wanting something that I've seen in the past, rather than hypothetical projections (which is exactly what 90% of these discussion boards are), I've seen HC3G find one on pretty much all of his teams.

              • I heard Wessel gave up his scholarship this year so another player could have it.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Nothing hypothetical about that. GGG knows...

There is a good chance that the Wichita/McGill game will be broadcast on the internet, as indicated here, under "Upcoming Events":

The official Men's Basketball page for the McGill University Redbird and Martlets

                    • Hands down the best freshman defender I've seen at WSU under Marshall was Baker. It's the first thing I noticed about him probably within 5 minutes of court time. That season was cut short, but he came back at the right time, and he obviously was a gamer from the start.

What was a pleasant surprise to me last year was seeing that same kind of court presence from not one frosh, but two. From my perspective McDuffie and Shamet looked to play with the same kind of pride and passion as Baker did when he was a freshman, on the defensive end.

In Canada, and well beyond, I'm going to focus on their performance on that side of the ball. They're both top 100 recruits in most experts eyes as it is, but to combine that kind of competitive pride with obvious versatile ball skills could lead to unexpected Shocker hardwood success, keeping in mind that they lost a lot on that side of the ball too. Now, throw in Frankamp, and the big kid from Oklahoma...

If the supporting cast can put in some extra practice time, and bear the fruit of that extra time in the gym, then I would expect a subsequent rise in their confidence level, resulting in less mistakes and enhanced overall team success. Similar to a G. Hatch or an A. Ellis. That's not much of a leap or unrealistic expectation.

Some of the games will probably be close up North (no, not that one), if not an outright loss or two. But, extra practice time is exactly what this young team needs... And what fans like me crave.

We've been hearing predictions and speculation about this for years -- it finally happened? I guess it's true: a stopped clock is indeed eventually correct.

                        • Tickets for the Carleton game may now be obtained online. Start at the goravens.ca front page and hit buy tickets even though it says /football/.... That will take you to a page with a choice to buy advance tickets which in turn goes to a page for ncaa advance tickets. The link the lady from Carleton sent me to go directly to the basketball page was invalid for some reason. I purchased and printed my ticket just fine. I had to just guess where WSU will sit. Based on the seat Rally Doug chose, I chose across the arena in section G. It doesn't look like the tour organizer for WSU has had seats reserved yet.
