And especially since things turned out fairly well for Corey. I don't think it's fair to the kids to set them up in a position where they face a substantial risk of failure. I totally understand and agree with him asking players to leave who don't quite measure up, but when you are recruiting the wrong type of athlete for your system, I don't understand why you even try to recruit a player who does not fit your system in the first place, as the kid will have to change substantially to fit your expectations.

I hope Ty becomes a great PG at another school and is an important asset for his team, in the mold of Jake White and some others.
I might slightly disagree. Guys like Hannah, Ragland, and Armstead were great assets to our program and were really not pass-first point guards. It does seem like he's trying to recruit a certain mold, but I don't think it's to test it out and see if it works. My guess is he sees that role as especially valuable when you already have a more pass-oriented point guard. It worked out a few times; it hasn't worked out lately.

Classy tweet by Ty announcing his decision. Seems like a really good kid and I wish him all the luck in the world. The young man certainly was not bereft of talent and hopefully he will find a spot where his talents can best be utilized to both his benefit and the benefit of his team.

Seems like most of the departures during Coach Marshall's regime have been on good terms and have generally worked out well for both parties.

Disappointing, and I wonder if things might have worked out differently had FVV not been injured and Taylor been forced into playing before he was ready. But stuff happens, and I wish him well -- he should make a fine player and a good representative for whatever school he chooses next.

So the Shocks are now back to thirteen for next year, incliuding Reaves, who has been described as a one-time pass-first facilitator / distributor who grew several inches into a different role. We'll see how that plays out.

Time will tell, but he must not fit in the style of play of Marshall... Maybe he will go to Tulsa and play with Henderson

I must be the only one in the world that actually is glad to hear this. I don't think I could stand to stomach watching TT play meaningful minutes like he did w/ FVV out. Every time he touched it, so ridiculous shot went up.

Fred Van Vleet thrusted into starting job even if Armstead wasn't here, would have yieled a positive gain as a freshmen

I was a skeptic from the start, nevertheless, I hope he finds the right program and has a
good career. He has an abundance of physical ability but just didn't seem to grasp what it
takes to play point mentally. I suggested that both he and EH would transfer at the end of
last year. Half right now. EH has all the physical ability also but that was not what kept him
off the floor. Hope I am wrong about him and he turns out to be an absolute stud, but he has
a lot of competition with Willis, RK, MM, RN etc

What a great attitude! That kid will make some other coach quite happy. It's tough being a freshman PG at a top-25 program!

Then I think, especially in light of the three guys you mentioned being either JUCO's or transfers, that he should quit recruiting Freshmen (unless both the coach and player understand it's a 'project') for this type of role, because he has recruited two players that fit the attributes (HS shoot-first PG's), both failed. One found good success at a JUCO and I'm betting the other will find similar success wherever he goes. When these kinds of things happen, it's obvious that a primary failure attribute is that they did not fit into the system. Going to WSU and playing for Marshall as a shoot-first HS PG greatly decreases said player's chances for success. I think just about anyone would say that it would be better to not recruit this type of player than to recruit them and ask them to leave at the end of their first playing season.

That's fair. Totally passed over the JUCO aspect. Probably why Daishon Smith is coming on.

I hate to say I told you so..

It just wasn't gonna happen. His best asset from what I saw of him is that he has a really quick shot release.

I think he'll work out pretty well at a mid major or low major school. Good luck to him.

                          ... No really, deuces.
