Cliff left after his junior season and I don't remember when he got his banner, but it wasn't on Antoine's senior night.

I'd be surprised if it happened anytime soon. I think they'll go through the usual process.

Cliff did not get his until Randy's second or third year. I think 23 and 31 will go up together regardless of when that time happens to be. In fact it may happen at the same time as Coach Marshall. Let's hope that isn't for a while.

I think we need to wait 5 years. What is the rush, if the program drops off a cliff then they should be retired, but what if the program maintains it current success? If the proxy maintains its current success then the means we will have had a lot of really good players coming through. Baker vanvleet are more like cheese, warren Armstrong, and Jason Perez, to me. Cle is a lot closer to having jersey retired in my mind. Now the statue of Marshall should have been put in front of the arena yesterday.

Two-year player Cle is closer to having his jersey retired than Fred and Ron? I absolutely love Cle, but that's just not correct.

Regardless of when 23 and 31 find their way into the rafters (which is hopefully sooner than later), I hope the basketball staff is aware enough to at least not let those numbers get used again.

Ron, Fred, and Cle should all get their jerseys retired. They were each All Americans, they were instrumental in our recent success, they deserve the honor.

However, considering the number of players that are already represented in the rafters in addition to the three I mentioned above AND the potential of some of our current players, I'm not in favor of retiring numbers. We are going to run out of numbers.

I still want a 35-0 banner. That season should not just be looked upon as a round of 32 exit.

Ron Baker Best Finish to date on a POSTSEASON all american team is Honorable mention. Fred Van Vleet was Honorable Mention once and 3rd team once. Cleanthony Was Consensus 2nd team All American once. He was also the best player on our two best recent teams. Just for Perspective Paul Miller was Honorable Mention All American, It was also much harder to to make an All American team prior to 1996 because very few of the best players left for the NBA before their Jr. Year.

We need to pump the brakes on number retirement. The criteria has been that a player must have been named to at least one Postseason First team All-American list. Most of the players with retired numbers were on more than one and were lottery pick type of players.

Do we really want to lower the standard to have a number retired? They are obviously Shocker Hall of Famer's.

What if we have players in the near future that are First team All-American's? There is a reason for a 5 year waiting period.

Cleo Littleton was 2nd team Helms Foundation in 1954; 3rd team Helms Foundation and on several magazine teams in 1955
Dave Stallworth 1st team consensus in 1964 and 2nd team AP in 1965
Cliff Levingston was 1st team Sporting News and 3rd team AP
Antoine Carr was 1st team Sporting News and 3rd team AP

Paul Miller was Honorable Mention AP

I seem to recall discussion that the Sporting News team was not one thought worth to consider for rafter purposes. But those two each had 3rd team AP to get them in.
