      The problem is that performance is purely based on number of wins, not winning percentage. That makes sense when comparing two teams with a lot of chances each, like Oregon and Kansas, where the number of wins corresponds pretty closely to winning percentage. It makes not sense when you say a 4-7 team is equivalent to a 4-12 team or a 4-1 team. It is far easier for a power conference team to get ~50/50 against 10-20 teams than it is for a mid-majors to go 75/25 against 5-10, especially when you consider the home court advantage difference.

      I also think that the selection committee highly over weighted quality wins. It seems that they used that as their primary metric and only used other metrics as tiebreakers. Almost any holistic approach would been preferable.
