Anyone notice how McDuffie towers over Zach, Rashard, and Shaq? He might be 6-10 by next year. Reminds me of Early. Probably better.

A lot of KU colleagues talking up WSU this year. They are impressed with their D and realize the two probably won't meet again this year. Several mentions of the team falling off a cliff next year. I did point out that there is a good possibility that we will start four top 100s (Frankamp went to KU, Shamet was recruited by KSU, Brown was recruited by Texas and TT, and McDuffie) and Shaq Morris (recruited by OU and OSU). Basically, our starting 5 could all be playing in the Big 12. Nurger and Allen were other former P5 commits while Willis and Kelly were offered by similar schools.

    Next years team is stacked!
    Wrong!!!

Marshall needs to leave now, or he may miss out forever.

I fully expect somewhat of a drop off next season. Too much inconsistency from the players that will be returning. We'll still compete in the Valley though, and probably win it, but as far as postseason goes. I'd like these guys to continue the NCAA tournament streak next season, but I won't be shocked if we are an NIT team next season.

Yep. I've been convinced by KC radio guys that Marshall's team next year won't be as good. Therefore, he won't be as hot a commodity, which will cost him offers if he doesn't grab a coveted P5 opening this year.

These are smart guys. They do a lot of research on this stuff and know more than we do.

If the Shocks stay healthy, I really DON'T expect a dropoff during the regular season, because this year's team came up probably 3-4 games short of what it should have been if FVV hadn't been hurt. So why wouldn't the 2016-17 edition be able to match 24-8 through the first two rounds in St. Louis? I certainly hope they can do that, maybe more; and Marshall's history at WSU gives me reason for optimism. Now, if they were trying to compete with a 28-4 mark this year, that would be a different story, and I'd expect a dropoff -- but they aren't, so I don't.

Yes, FVV and Ron are unmatched as a Shocker guard duo. But Marshall has already called Shamet a player of that caliber, and the young guys look VERY promising. We also haven't even seen Peyton Allen. I think WSU is very likely to be at-large caliber against next year, if they stay healthy.
The ONLY reason I would disagree with this is the Committee is trash. There was ONE "mid-major" at large bid this year, and it was the best ever play in team in the history of the tournament. I don't trust those tools to not jack things up again.

So long as they lean on the RPI as a reliable tool, we will get screwed. The RPI needs to be dissolved.

The system is flawed... You have to have a different way to weigh conference games... The big 12 was not the best conference, the ACC was,

IF there ever was a year for that to happen ... this is it. The Pac-12 was propped up by great RPI numbers to get 7 teams in. They gamed the system with scheduling to make it look like they were better than they were. 7 team in, and had one of the worst first weekends ever by a conference. 2-6 with only 1 team in the sweet 16, and that team got blessed with a 1 seed, which should be a given that they make it to the 2nd weekend, even though they almost didn't

The funny thing is that the MVC used to game the conference RPI system as well, much to its advantage, and then the MVC non-con scheduling minimums were dropped, so that shitty coaches, with shitty jobs, at shitty programs could schedule glorified high school roundabouts during the non-con in order to retain their employment. The top programs in the conference get to suffer 3 seed lines of disrespect so that the poor sisters can have their effing safe zone where feelings can't be hurt.
