Per Sagarin, Wichita State is 1-3 versus top 50. If we win that one we play Arizona which is 4-7 versus top 50, same as Vanderbilt. Both are winnable but needless to say we've largely surprised on the downside this year.
Watching UK-TAM today it was very evident that (1) the majority of opportunities for both came as a result of driving to the basket and (2) both teams had two "bigs" under the basket any time a teammate launched from outside. We are notorious for (1) passing around the perimeter then launching a three and (2) having one rebounder underneath and thus getting outrebounded.
I'm glad for our guys that we made it, and the pundits may say we're "talented and dangerous" but something has clearly been amiss this year and expectations are low. At least with that comes little pressure. May we play our very best ball in the coming days (and weeks). Pleasantly surprised, now focus and don't soil the bed again. We're out of detergent.
