I would think he would have to full-on practice for 2 or 3 weeks to be in game shape.

The people that want Landry to come back this year seem like the same people that take tax refunds to speedy cash and pay them 25% to get a refund a week early. Then ***** a week later about being broke.

Is it guaranteed that he gets a redshirt if he doesn't play?

I thought someone mentioned that if he is able to play, and doesn't then a determination is then made by the NCAA to grant it or not.

If he is practicing, wouldn't that be taken into account if a med redshirt is granted?

Again, as most have said, its his choice, but it would really suck if he could have played, but opted to save the year and then end up not being granted the redshirt.

If you can find an instance of this ever happening, it would be the first I've ever heard of it.

The NCAA isn't trying to prove that injured players can actually play.

I've never seen someone take 2 dribbles, eat a ham sandwich and get up a shot in 1.9 seconds before either, but that don't mean it can't happen.

I'd like to see him play. Granted it would take some time to get into good playing shape, . I think his ability to drive is something we are lacking in our depth off the bench. Connor doesn't provide this, and when we face a zone and FVV is out of the game we need another penetrator besides Ron to open things up. I think this team has final four potential now, who knows what will happen in the next few years.

But the school has to prove to the NCAA that the injured player cannot return. If there's any question, do you really want that determination in the hands of the NCAA?

If you can find an example of the NCAA denying a medical hardship in a similar case, I would be interested in seeing it.

I know of none. I just know what the requirements are and despite not being able to find a precedent, this is still an organization with a history of inconsistency when it comes to individual rulings.

I can respect those who want a redshirt no matter what, and I can respect those who want Landry to play no matter how late the first appearance. I'm not angry at either extreme.

With that said, I am completely shocked that 2/3rds want him to redshirt even if he could play 3-4 regular season games, plus likely 3 games in St. Louis, and then be in his 7th or 8th game back for round 1 of the NCAA tournament. The Sweet 16 could literally be his 10th game back and a full month into his return if that was the case and the Shox were to make it that far.

                            Completely. Shocked.
