The Valley leaves no room for error. All risk, ZERO reward. **** it.
5-5 non-con performance leaves no room for error. The Valley actually helps a team with unexpected weaknesses mask them for a good portion of the season. This of all years is one where we should be thankful for 13 or 14 auto-wins the Valley provides.

haven't seen any replays, but in real time I thought it was a charge

      • There is just no excuse for WSU to lose to a 125th RPI ranked UNI on WSU's home court.
This is our Stars, Baker & Van Fleets Senior year. We have run out of excuses, this was just bad.

        • Shockers best hope for improvement in time for March madness is for Landry Shamet to return to the lineup in the next couple weeks and provide a spark like Baker & FVV did as freshmen during the unexpected run to the Final 4. If Shamet can get several games under his belt and provide meaningful minutes to spell primarily EW but also Baker & FVV at times, Shocks may go on another surprising run in March. Shamet has size to perhaps help on defense and hopefully can provide a needed spark on offense, especially against zone defenses. Can't afford to redshirt him if he is healthy to contribute in March.

          • As far as Shamet, I say focus on the future, give him a full year of play it will benefit the program long term. Ultimately it is a decision that Shamet and his family should make in consultation with Coach. Regardless of the decision, we will all be cheering his return, whenever that will be.

And your analyis is spot on. WW was back pedaling and giving ground. It is a POE this year not to penalize defenders who are giving ground and the offensive player initiates contact. That is exactly what happened on this play and was called correctly.

FVV initiated all contact on the play to a defender who had a legal guarding position and was giving ground. He made a bad decision, on top of numerous ones.

WSU played their second bad game in a week and their kryptonite has been exposed. The fact they did not respond, AGAIN, after what happened last Saturday is the greatest concern.

              That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

Should it perhaps have been a no call?

We have the option of a no-call during this type of play. It depends on how much the contact initiated by the offensive player displaces the defensive player.

The barreling in by FVV in an attempt to draw cheap fouls is a poor excuse of executing an offense. I would suggest several other options of attacking a zone vs this one.

HCGM had better get it figured out and quick. Until they demonstrate an ability to carve up zone defenses, they are going to see a steady diet of them the rest of the season.

The most disturbing is the lack of movement by the offense. There is little player or ball movement, almost like they are stunned to see another team even attempt to use it.

                  That is all.

Fred - Seven times plus two charging calls. Three of those seven times WSU rebounded, but got one point (two turnovers by the rebounder Brown and Wessel and one of two FTs by Morris)

Conner was 0-5, 0-2 inside the arc.

In simple laymen's terms, on offense we were hot and were not, then we were sort of hot, and then we were not. On defense the first half, we were cold but played much better in the 2nd half. We ate glass but could not shoot the ball in the ocean. At the end, it took so long to score when we did score. The last 2 three points shots by Baker and CF were close, but no cigar.
We made 7 of 22 layups. Fred (1-8) Morris (0-2) Wessel (0-1) Grady (1-2) McDuffie (1-2) Baker (2-4) Kelly (1-2) Brown (1-1). Make 3/4 of 22 attempts to be 16 of 22, we'd have 18 more points AND out 3-pt shooters would be a tad bit more open!
