When you launch 30+ threes you never get to the line.

      • I'm still upset about this late season collapse HCGM has engineered. Why can't he recruit a big? Multiple MVC teams seem to have them. We have Grady. What a bag-over-the-head-punch-in-the-face that is. Baker has been off all year, FVV is struggling. Team, to me, seems too heavy; slow and clumsy.

I've wondered that for a few years now. How did not one top big around the country NOT wanna come catch and dunk with Fred and Ron?

Today, he tried passing it and still got called for the charge (before the terrible charge call when Washpun was sliding into position). I think he needs to stop driving for a bit. It will keep him from getting hurt and help us on offense.

In the tournament, I think those calls will start going our way, and I won't get nearly as nervous when he drives.
Love me some Fred and I believe he is one of the best college point guards in a long time. After watching multiple games live then watching a recorded video, I used to think he got hammered every time. However, after watching many replays is it possible to conceive that he gives it his all to lay out for the lay up that usually ends up with him hitting the deck? It looks brutal and he usually gets the whistle. But on days like this and the Seton Hall game when the refs don't call it, that means bad news for us. Most times when a guy commits to the drive like Fred does, the defense collapses and he is in way to deep to make the pass back out to the parameter. I thought he drove to many times looking for the whistle that never came today.

              • Does anyone know the status of the gent that passed out in section 119 at halftime. Nice guy, I sure hope he is okay.

                • 1. As good of a crowd as I have ever been a part of.

                  2. It felt like Fred gave up 30 points in the first half.

                  3. We played against a bunch of skinny white boys and could not guard them, nor get around them.

                  4. Brown had three 3's halfway down that came back out.

                  5. No breakaways. None. What?

                  6. HCGM needed to sub faster. Usually he waited till a shot or two was short.

                  7. Officiating was ragged, at best. First call nothing, then try to get control by calling everything.

                  8. We will see much more zone. I dunno why they came out of it.

                  9. How many times did we heave up a 35 footer with 1 second left. That's coaching.

                  10. Lazy in the first half, like as if we are invincible in this building. Still gotta try.

                    • We have a big coming in next year, he looks pretty good. I personally think we'll be pretty good next year despite our seniors leaving. I'm hoping for better team ball.

                      • Notes:

FVV, Baker, Wessel, and CF 8-39 FG for .205. Rest of team 12-27 for .444

FVV, Baker, Wessel, and CF 4-21 from 3 for .190. Rest of team 3-10 for .300

FVV, Baker, Wessel, and CF shot 60% of the FGs and 67% of the 3s.

Team was 3-4 from the line all by Morris.

How many times did we kick the ball back outside to Fred as the shot clock went under 10 and didn't get a good shot? Seemed like a lot.

After UNI broke the 44-44 tie and got a 7 point lead did our offense look like there was 10+ minutes to go, not 3.

A LOT of our plays have no movement on offense. A lot of standing around waiting for Fred or Ron to do something.

Yes, no answer for the zone.

                        No mid-range game.

No rapid passing. A lot of passing to players already at a position where they are guarded. Little passing to players as they arrive at a position after losing their defender.

Refs were a problem, not THE problem.

I can't even wrap my head around how a team with some pretty solid scorers, could let that happen. Really wish we could pound the ball inside when we need a hoop. Marshall can no longer protect Shaq and Grady... play them till they freaking foul out because Nurger is useless at this point in his career.
