With all that said, I think Lansing is a hell of a coach and gets the most he can out of a really low-majorish athletic department. I'm surprised he doesn't get more looks. However, the Evansvilling that's been going on with that program has been hard to ignore lately. This is at least the 3rd straight year where they tanked in the non-con and then acted like they finally had a pulse once Valley play started. Dumb.
I forgot about how awful they (2 or 3 frequently posting fans)were after going to the dance. I was happy to see them implode the next year.

Lansing has no idea how to get a team to play an entire season. His tenure has been one of 1/2 seasons played, opportunities squandered. Twice he has had his team pretty well into the tournament with a decent finish, only to completely implode in February. The last two seasons have been awful in the non-con. He's a decent coach, but I'd like to see us hire a more seasoned coach. Of course, our $$$ problems make that tough, but waving $700,000 a year at a coach doesn't guarantee success, either. Just ask Bradley fans...

        $700K was a nice number...

        ...for Turgeon...

        ...ten years ago.

In all seriousness, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but that sort of perspective is largely why the MVC is where it is at today.

Lansing is Barry Hinson level in the cost per performance category.

Bradley might have missed on the Ford hire. They might have missed on the Wardle hire. But as long as Bradley has that money and that fan support they will remain a sleeping giant. ISUb will just have to hope to make a really lucky hire once a decade and try and pull an NCAA run out of the coach before he bolts.

Connor is set to tee off on at least one hapless Valley opponent this year. Might as well be the Sycamores.

With due respect to oue MVC brothers, there is not a Valley team that we should not beat by 20+ points at home.

I agree. I also thought Ford was a decent hire too so I won't be offering any praise yet.

In some ways, the Sycamores are the anti-Bears. They are tops in the league at 3FG% defense and 2nd in defensive rebounding. The Shocks must have a good inside-out game. If not, we're susceptible.

'Ol Larry doesn't have much of anything to do with ISU anymore. Heck, at that statue dedication, they weren't even sure he was going to show up until a couple of days before, and I think that had a lot to do with the owner of the Pacers (his boss) telling him he had to. (Mr. Simon donated a pile of money to the scholarship fund). Larry is still a god at ISU, but he doesn't seem to care, in spite of the concerted efforts of Kevin McKenna and Greg Lansing and Ron Prettyman to make him feel like he's part of the family. I don't get it...could we borrow a Koch brother? :beguiled:
