Would like to see our starters Take, Bake, Quake (SM), Rattlesnake (EW) and Heartbreak (ZB1) open up a can and jump on them from the opening tip. Extend the lead with Make, Shake, Shotfake (AG), Poundcake (RK) and No Brake (TT). Finish them off with Cheesecake (RN), Snowflake (ZB5), Backache (BW), Beefsteak (EH) and Handshake (JRS). Cornflake (PA), Doubletake (LS) and Pancake (BB) will sit this one out.
@forevershockerfan - I didn't want to leave anyone out :glee:
Hope for a competitive game, still think Shocks win handily in this one 81-66.

I'm hopeful a new AD will be a far more forceful voice for athletic fundraising. But please don't make fun of fans who are simply trying to remedy situations as best we can when faced with University officials who don't seem to care all that much. We're trying!!!Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

“Anybody here seen my old friend Larry?
Can you tell me where he's gone?
I thought I saw him walkin' up over the hill
with Magic, Bill and Michael
But now it appears he’s gone..."
Dammit Larry - Do the right thing! You were one of my all-time favorites; please step up and help.
"For Bird, the best part of the weekend may have come when Bradley announced that a fundraising dinner had raised $400,000 to endow the Larry Legend Scholarship to support future basketball players from Indiana.

ISUb, in all likelihood, faces a much tougher funding battle in Indiana. Plus, with the number of tea party representatives, the pot has gotten smaller, as tea partiers tend to be fiscally conservative, so there's that, too.

Enrollment
Ball State - 21,000
IUPUI - 30,000
Indiana State - 13,500
ISUb has to fight 4 larger schools for funding. This is much worse than WSU. When I was going to school at WSU, we tried and failed to get a law school and a medical school. At the time, it was very obvious that politics were at work.
When you're #5, it gets more difficult to overcome the politics.

Ball State, by itself, is 25,000 students.

In terms of the Valley Race this weekend, here is how I want the cow to eat the cabbage. Since The Redbirds are so talented from 1-12, I want them to win a home game with incoming Evansville. Next, the Bulldogs at home are to defeat S. Illinois and this will be okay with me. Of course as already stated here, the Shocks will take care of their own business this weekend too. This would give us a nice 2 game lead over the closest foe. Then it is on to N. Iowa for us.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

The ISUb fans on this board have always been great but some of the fans on their board are getting a bit too big for their britches. Would love a reality check for them on Sunday. Has anyone mentioned ISUb's "We Want Wichita" chant yet? Put that one on the bulletin board.

In the preseason, one of the ISUb posters stated that Brown was one of the best guards in the league. He's very good. I did, however, point out that he's like the fifth best SG in the league who's last name starts with the letter B: Baker, Balentine, Beane, and Bohannon are all better than Brown.
Brenton Scott is pretty skilled as well. Matt Van Cyclops and Kris Smith are nice role players, but they really have nothing in the paint. Certainly a team that is talented enough to be dangerous, but not consistently so.Livin the dream

I would say Indiana State has a very nice "valley sized" load of talent. The problem is that what will cut it in the valley is usually not necessarily a contender type team. It's easy to look at why they've done so far in valley play and think to yourself they might be emerging. It's kinda like how SIU duped me into thinking they were back by playing literally the worst schedule in all of history.
I like Indiana state and I always enjoy seeing them do well. They may be pretty solid, but again, this conference needs 5 teams in the top 100 and the other 5 in the top 200 before there is anything to even talk about. Right now we have ONE team in the top 100 (alright fine Evansville is barely holding on in the upper 90s) and half the conference is hopelessly behind 200. This conference is as bad or worse than the MAC, Colonial, Horizon, Summit and Big West for goodness sake and If anyone is basing anything off of anyone's record against this conference, you will end up with a skewed sense of how good you are. If you don't WIN this league with very few or no losses at all, you aren't a contender.
Note to self, Jake White is playing in a better conference this year than we are.
The valley race 2-10 is like a big battle to determine who the best CBI level team is. Meanwhile there are two better postseason tournaments you aren't even invited to.
Again I like Indiana state but until they bring in a decent non conference showing with all their talent, there's nothing to go on. Same goes for the rest of the MVC. Keeping your head barely above water in this conference doesn't mean you have a good team sometimes, but the stats may look that way...

With all that said, I think Lansing is a hell of a coach and gets the most he can out of a really low-majorish athletic department. I'm surprised he doesn't get more looks. However, the Evansvilling that's been going on with that program has been hard to ignore lately. This is at least the 3rd straight year where they tanked in the non-con and then acted like they finally had a pulse once Valley play started. Dumb.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.
