  • WSU Versus Evansville Predictions and Pregame Discussions

Here's the deal. Every solitary Shocker Season is unique in its own twists and turns. There are always expectations even though we know not for sure all that waits ahead along the excursion. This Season is no exception. After us being ranked in the Top 10, lots of unexpected injuries occurred and adversity was close behind. Even so, the old adage says "Don't judge a book by its cover." Even so, this script we have witnessed so far started like a sucker punch in the mouth. So what happens now? It is not always how the race begins as much as the learning curve on the journey along the way. What we magnify is the extended Dancing in the last paragraph of the book. Our foes want the same thing and will be standing in the way for us to deal with.

Thus, the Shockers get back to the Office at 21st and Hillside, already knowing 3G will have them working on boxing out and rebounding, etc. Why? Incoming is 13-2 Evansville led by the top rebounder in the whole Country named Mockevicius who just tallied 21 points and 21 rebounds versus Mo. State. Mo States whole team had 28 rebounds. Also, we never fail to mention Mr. Balentine who can stroke the rock in the net. Are the Shockers scart? No because-----

"Never fear, FVV and Baker are here." Mr. Baker had nice success against the Purple Aces last Season and will cover Balentine like a cheap suit. FVV will dissect their D. until it parts like the Red Sea. MM continues to grow his game in leaps and bounds. Shaq is asserting his game inside and CF is helping us outside.

As we gaze into the Shocker future pondering the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey pegged it, how does 9-5 and 3-0 sound with this win? One game at a time. The Shocks D-fence will prevail.

Fun quote from the aces board. They sure are confident after beating up on the bottom third of the NCAA.

    [QUOTE]
In all seriousness....I believe the only way The ACES can lose this game, is if they beat themselves.
They're definitely the better team this season, than SHOX.
SHOX has the 10-12 point advantage, in a lot of games, because they wear black and their recent historical swag.

The ACES are better conditioned, more accurate in shooting and passing. (Even with The ACES atrocious Free Throw shooting exhibition the past two games, still have a better FT% than SHOX and have made more FT's than SHOX has even attempted)

The ACES just need to shut out the 10k Auntie Em's and Uncle Henry's and play their game. Don't tense up and feel intimidated by the banners, in Koch. Get the ball into EMO and let him dunk on Shaq, Grady, Kelly, or Wamukota a few times.
Adam, Mislav, Blake, & JayB play their games.
And DJ, will just be DJ and refuse to allow them to take this season away from him, EMO, and Adam.
Come back to the FC, with a 14-2 (3-0) record and watch the Evansville community clamor for tickets.[\QUOTE]

This is your typical COUTEAU post. I love how hopeful he is, it is wonderful. However, I think he will be proven wrong (a common occurrence with his predictions) on Wednesday.

This is going to be close, and could be a reality check.

If we rebound like we did against Bradley and our AA's shoot their FT's like they did, it is going to be a very close game.

                Shocks - 71
                Aces - 62

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

It may be close but it ain't gonna be a reality check.

Evansville has played NOBODY. They have beaten NOBODY. The only thing they have going for them is their offensive schemes. Unfortunately, they haven't played a defensive team as stout as WSU's either.

They can act all 13-2 all they want against a pudd schedule. The reality check is coming for them, not us.

Depends on if they keep calling the moving screens like they have so far this year.

Mock will provide a significant challenge for Shaq and Anton. Wessel is the perfect match-up against Wing and should shut him down. Simmons/Brzoya are not as good as Brown/McDuffie. Baker and Balentine will be a good match-up, but Baker is better. Not sure what will happen for the 8 minutes Conner is playing the 2 where DJ doesn't come out. Brown is a good PG, but not as good as Fred. It really boils down to how we handle Mock and how much better than WSU can EU shoot.
