I'm not sure the importance of this game, I can't foresee NMSU actually being a top 100 team. They are currently an RPI 200+ team and are forecasted to be MAYBE 150. Way more risk to take a loss on short turn around than gain anything. Save the 125k and give the assistants a bonus or use it for a better buy game next year.

I would write this year off. The conferrence grind is hard enough and then trying to squeeze a game in somewhere. Fatigue could start playing a factor and a loss in conference or to NMST would hurt more than the gain of a victory. Plus it might help the narrative of look at the adversity WSU has been through with injuries and weather.

I would just tell NMST let move it to 2016 for the 125,000 buy-in and add in another trip in 2017 (for free or for reduced buy-in game).

Send half the team to SWOMO to play them and we can keep the other half here to play New Mexico State. If we can almost beat USC and Bama with two-thirds of a roster we can beat SWOMO with 4 people.

That's reasonable, too, Stickboy. There are a number of reasonable points of view about the current mess, and I'll leave it to the athletic department and Marshall -- who will almost certainly have considerable input in the decision -- to do what they think makes sense, and just go from there.

Ultimately, I'm still encouraged by the way things have gone so far, because as I've said before, it's sometimes just when things look the worst and most vexing that good stuff is about to happen. We saw it with the Final Four team, which experienced the early injuries to Baker and Wessel (who at that point in his career was a starter averaging 5.5 ppg in 19 minutes, and shot 46% from three before he was hurt) and a miserable three game Valley losing streak on the way to a 12-6 conference finish before shocking the world. And we saw it years earlier with the '89 baseball CWS team, who were rolling along and then started losing starters like Bonacquista and their #3 hitter and shortstop, Lansing, before coming out of a couple of postseason loser's brackets on their way to a championship just before they ran completely out of players. It's always darkest before the sunrise, and that's what I'm hoping to see again this year regardless of what happens with NMSU.

Why does the Missouri Valley have to decide the officials for non-conference home games at WSU anyways? IMO, WSU should be hiring the non-conference officials for their home games. I know many local guys that could run circles around some of the guys we've had. Eades is terrible, Higgins is good but he's more worried about getting his tv time. If I didn't know any better I'd swear that him and TV Teddy are related somehow. There's many more capable guys out there, I just don't understand why we have to get the same douchebags for our non-conference games.
