Great rivalry, hope it picks back up!

I realize slamming Creighton during some down years is easy low-hanging fruit. But I believe they lead the overall rivalry 54-46. And I'm pretty sure McDermott didn't play all 54 of those games we lost to them...

It's a fun rivalry, of which we have very few. Let's get to making that win-loss split more respectable.

I'm quite certain that they'll get a series scheduled with their REAL rivals, SIU, before they schedule with us.

I'm curious who that P5 team is we're starting a series with that Paul mentioned in the article.

Of course, I'm also excited about beating the crap out of Creighton.

So, Bluejay may be back on the menu? Sweet!

Bingo. Take a look at a list of the top 150 teams. I'm confident we could get home-and-homes with quite a few of them if we wanted to but we don't for whatever reason. We could also get buy games with Duke or Florida but we don't. Why is that?

I'm not sure about the home and homes, but I've heard it said that they try to find teams with whom a H/H would be mutually beneficial and that some of those teams don't agree. As for being a buy game, I've heard 3G say that he thought we were beyond being someone's buy game. I can't say I disagree with that.

What I was getting at was that maybe Gregg thinks we are above home and homes with some of those top 150 teams and is only willing to agree to it with Creighton because they are a Big East team which rubs me the wrong way. New Mexico State is more worthy of a home and home than Creighton but we buy them.

I agree with you. There are many teams I'd like to see a home and home with, but Creighton just isn't one of them. Like I sad earlier, I'd much rather have a H/H with a middle of the pack P5 team than a Big Least Cellar Dweller. Of corse, I'd rather get some big names into CKA, but I'm not sure how you accomplish that task.

But we can buy NMST, so why would we do a H/H with them? I would rather watch the Shocks play the Aggies in Koch Arena than watch it on TV or travel to Las Cruces (sp?).

Marshall has said several times that they try to schedule the best teams that they can beat. Now, that includes basically every team in the country right now, but he seems to believe (and probably rightly so) that 'quality losses' aren't really a thing for WSU on Selection Sunday. So far, he has a very good track record of getting his teams into the Dance.

Also what I was kind of getting at. We can buy teams that have better RPIs than Creighton. Why do we need to do home and homes with them?

My guess is that the coach and AD find it beneficial from a fan perspective and RPI standpoint to resume the series. Is it really any different than doing H/H with SLU and Tulsa? Actually it's probably better on both counts than the SLU series.

The SLU series looked great when it was scheduled. They were on an upward trajectory with a Top 25 team when they unfortunately lost their coach and hired an Evansville retread.

I agree. I'm not convinced of this, but some might make the argument that Creighton has bottomed out and will be on an upward trajectory. I will believe it when I see Creighton actually play some defense. However, they've had pretty good success with recruiting and transfers in the past couple of years.
