Uh, what? Is Mike Kennedy sick? I've never known him to say anything positive about any kind of officiating.

They did call a good game in the 1st half, but they seemed to have called it a little differently in the 2nd half. Definitely some wtf calls. Not consistent from 1 half to the other. Granted our guys committed a lot of dumb fouls, but a lot of the calls on Shaw were bad.

    • I think we win that game if Frankamp decides to transfer earlier. I blame this loss on the Jayhawker.

He probably meant they called a good game compared to the clowns we had Friday night lol

There were some obvious ****ups but they were much better than the crew @ CKA

            We needed a zone buster

            • This game was very reminiscent of early season last year. No energy. Confusion and stagnation on offense. A lack of rebounding intensity.

Fred should not play until next week. Some of the issues might be related to no Fred in practices.

              • Tulsa fan here. Great game by Baker! I've always admired his tenacity. I thank the number of you that have acknowledged Tulsa's talent this season. Looking forward to continuing the series. The only qualm I had tonight was that the ESPN3 (cox) broadcast was pretty piss poor. I've worked with the ESPN crews that have come in to the Reynolds Center during the past, and this one seemed pretty amateurish. Like one of your voices called two of our players RashaRd the entire night when they're both named Rashad. I know you guys have a Rashard... but that's the kind of thing that should be noticed during the week of preparation that your broadcasters had for the game.

Again, I really enjoy our rivalry and wish all of you Shockers the best going forward! Hope you get a good tourney seed!.

                • Sometimes crow is much tastier than being right. I predicted the loss and I predicted that our
freshmen were over hyped and would get exposed except for LS. TT and EH needed to RS and if
MM isn't even going to see the court then he should have too. We may need RN to reconsider if
it isn't too late. What was really disappointing were the contributions of ZB and SM. RB always a
warrior. Now, I hope everyone doesn't get all hyped up again when the newbies shine against
ESU. Team perimeter defense and help defense was pretty bad tonight. Hard to find many
positives except for AG's offense. Hope FVV sits it out next game and gets healthy. Those of
you thinking TT was going to make CF work for his minutes must be feeling silly right now.

                  • Comments from Tulsa.
Tulsa is much better than the recent past.
The underclassmen were intimidated and reverted to HS stuff. The Sophs should have performed better.
Don't understand pulling Ron and Fred at the same time early.
Fred's not 100%. It showed a lot on offense.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

If it was Bruce then he doesn't know our players' names either.

                      • Not concerned about this team in the long term. Lost tonight to a very experienced Tulsa team that shot the lights out. They will do their part to ensure that this is not seen as a poor loss when tourney time comes around.

Impressed with Grady's offensive ability and as always Baker's effort and will. Disappointments include Shaq and Brown, these two will need to figure out a way to change their trajectory. It's early in the season and our Freshman should now understand they have more work to do to be able to consistently contribute. Like a wiser man than I once said, you should never get to high or too low based on an individual performance.

                        • The first half was one of our worst played halves in years. FVV's three bombs were the saving grace.
Shocks started the 2nd half well and then lost their energy quick.
We have no inside offense against a zone.
Shaq was slow and stood around too much--terrible game.
                          Bush has no hands.
We substitute too early in the game and too often--before we get any kind of rhythm or style going.
Having said all that, this loss did not surprise me at all. I was concerned about Tulsa's 9 seniors before the game and the 5 returning starters (and it being at Tulsa).
This is, indeed, a loss to build on. Much can be learned form this one. Onwards.

We will face more funky zones this Season than ever before. The 6 trips in a row with turnovers was not expected. Last Season we had less than 10 turnovers a game and were in the Top 10 in that important category.

The charge, if I remember right was when he tried to go 1 on 2. That was an easy call. Most of his fouls were dumb fouls. If anybody has a beef, it's Shaq
I'll look at it again, but on a loose ball with neither player having a clear positional edge? I think you're way off base here.

The palm/carry/travel globetrotteresque play when we were down 4 was unforgivable.

                                The kick was wrong.

Baker went to the rack and was hit 3 or 4 times with no call.

The bailout 5th foul on Landry with the shot clock at zero on a loose ball.

Mind you, I know I'm capable of blaming the officials...I am NOT doing that here. The better team won, period. But those calls resulted in 6 points for Tulsa they shouldn't have had and who knows how many points for WSU.
