I can see going 2 deep at PG, SG, and SF. Then going 3-deep at PF and C. Not by plan, but by keeping 5 guys on the court. Shaq is foul-prone. I expect Hamilton will be foul-prone. BWam is foul-prone.

That makes a spot for McDuffie.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

i can't see mcduffie being redshirted, agreed. he passed the ball so well against hp.. he will fit in and make a difference in a game here or there, even as a freshman.

and taylor. after a year of prep school, is he not ready to be a freshman yet? well, he probably won't play much.. but you would expect that from any freshman on a good team.

        And this.

Also, we seem to be hung up on who's in the rotation. Last year we were not as deep as this year, yet, we had 12 players log almost 200 minutes or better. BWam played 32 games and 192 minutes for a 6.0 minutes per game played. Nurger played the fewest games of that 12 at 24 games, but logged 8.8 mpgp. Henderson and Holland played 28 and 27 games, 6.8 and 8.5 mpgp respectively. Glass, the other scholarship player, played 19 games and 5.6 mpgp.

With Nurger having a shirt, that leaves us with the same 13 players as last years. If we can agree this team is deeper and stronger at the bottom than last year, starters in particular, may be able to play fewer minutes, allowing for more rest and more minutes at the bottom.

This is all well said, and why I'm concerned that Hamilton and Taylor might only get 6 or so minutes per contest. There's nothing wrong with that, but at what mpg level do you consider a red shirt? If it was me, it would be less than 300 minutes on the season.

Somewhat OT: I don't know what you guys mean when you say the WSU offense is highly complex. WSU runs a lot of 10 second sets but after that the offense is pick-and roll based with the only complexity being knowing where Fred wants you to be on the floor. It's certainly not as complex as Evansville or Creighton was when Dougie-McD was there. It doesn't have to be, WSU has good enough players that if you give them a little bit of structure and try to get the players in the best position to score that's all you need to do. With really good players it's best to stay out of their way as much as possible.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

This is one HELL of a team if a guy like Landry Shamet is the 10th man. The sky really is the limit this season and we all should consider ourselves lucky to be a part of such a great atmosphere

Evan contributed very little scoring last year. He still played a lot. When I saw that Waumakota had more rebounds than anyone else on the floor Saturday, I'll tell you that coach will play him for rebounding purposes until someone proves to coach that they can rebound better. And his d wasn't shabby, either.

Although if you immediately no-look-throw your rebound into the hands of the opposing team, the whole idea of a gained possession is nullified.

If you subtract those two occurrences from his box score, I wonder if he still leads the team in rebounds.

Now, all the sudden McDuffie led the team in rebounds.

You mean just a little under 10 mpg? First, for one reason or another, a fair number of players won't play every game. Brown played in 27 of 35 games and played 284 minutes (I know, that's only 16 minutes off). I kind of thought he had some meaningful minutes.

Also, had Henderson and Holland been more like our "back-up" guards this year (we're still assuming this), FVV and Baker would not have had to play 31.5 and 32.7 mpg and been more like 27 mpg. I also believe Taylor thinks he can push CF for minutes this year and is hoping to get a leg up by getting some additional time before CF becomes eligible.

On the side of a red-shirt, Taylor needs to look that he would be in line to be the starting point his junior and senior seasons at the latest based on the current roster and committed.

BWam had 3 TOs in 13 minutes against a DII team.

Confirming or questioning why I posted? BWam gave back 3 of the 7 positions he gained.

Baker also had 3 turnovers. Pretty sure he's gonna play. Have to be careful how much we draw from 1 exhibition game, good and bad.

Bwam's other turnover was a pass that bounced off his knee if I remember right.

I'm just playing around for the most part. I really want a huge talented center and I want him to be good enough to start. It's just that I kinda know where to keep my expectations for now. His performance in this last game was really bad given the competition. That's okay. For now, I'll expect him to be a really really nice third string center who will probably show flashes for us at critical moments just like last year.

On this team, that's good enough.

Baker: In 22 minutes and playing some point. I'm pretty sure he's gonna play a lot of minutes.

BWam: Absolutely. To be fair, he did only have 8 TOs in close to 200 minutes last year. That said, I was hoping for better overall against a DII. The other 4 big men (not including McDuffie or Barney) averaged 14 minutes, 8.5 points, shot 10-18 for .555 from the field, averaged 4 FTs shot, .75 TO, but only 3 rebounds. BWam was 13 minutes, 0 points, 0-3 from the field, 0 FTs, 3 TOs, and 7 rebounds.
