Just to clarify, the article didn't suggest that Fred has a torn hamstring. It just noted that one of the considerations about playing him or not is that the risk a tear is higher when playing on a strained hamstring.

On the whole, the article seemed fairly positive about the progress that is being made in treatment. The main problem is the fact that the Tulsa game puts pressure to get Fred back quicker than you would like.

Personally, even if it meant losing to Tulsa (which is not a given if Fred doesn't play), making sure Fred is healthy seems to be a much higher priority than any single game.

His status is worrisome. if he is the point where he just feels like he's jus got a knot in his hamstring - he is weeks, not days from being healthy.

I'm more of a fan of Ty than most here, but I feel completely confident in his and Landry's ability to step up and play PG by committee (along with Ron) in FVV's absence. Clearly it won't be the same, but I think they are more than capable. Especially against Charleston Southern.

I read the article and my thoughts are this. He sits out this game. We don't need him for this game and it will give the others good experience. He's worried about being "rusty" for the Tulsa game. IMO a rusty FVV along with the rest of the supporting cast is more than enough for Tulsa (not a knock on Tulsa, just that confident in Fred and the rest of the team). If Fred reaggrevates it and needs to miss another couple weeks, he might be out for the Advocare Tourney in which we WILL need him as close to 100% as possible.

I think with Fred's health that redshirt might just be flying out the window.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

                      Charleston Southern - 56

Fred is a DNP. LS plays well at the point. TT burns the shirt.

Exactly why Taylor doesn't redshirt. We're one injury away from being in a precarious position at point guard. Taylor needs this year to groom under the master just as Fred did with Malcolm.

Agree with everyone that FVV needs to rest up until that hammie gets completely right. If that means debuting against USC in Orlando (or even later), that is fine.

We need him at 100% in March/April and whatever amount of time it takes to get there is well worth it.

I would be a fan of checking Fred in with 20 seconds remaining and the game well in hand so he can keep counting those W's.

Just asking. Which is more important: Checking in to get connected to the W (which he would not have contributed to during the game) or the effect on his per game stats?

The freshman look hungry (not in a Shabazz Napier kind of way). I'm looking forward to the different combinations out on the floor tonight as the coaching staff sorts things out. I'm liking TT's energy and AG's moves under the basket.
