Ragland shot 51% as a senior. I will take that!

    • Shaq having a year to play with Grady should be huge for us the next two years. If he will choose to learn from him.

      • I know it's been mentioned, but it bears repeating.

This team is deep ... deeper than Barry White's seductive voice ... deeper than Jack Handey's thoughts ... deeper than HCGM's pockets.

McDuffie and Shamet = Future Stars.

Going to miss Nurger this year, but RS year for the best.

It can happen! Though he might night hit that stat, or Rag's assists numbers, he'll be right there in PPG I think. No idea what his senior year will look like.

We were without Fred the entire game. We had 14 players play at least 8 minutes. There were tons of newcomers. Tons of different lineups.

I dunno what you're expecting from a first-time exhibition? Can you please elaborate?
So, you were pleased with the first half performance, which is when I posted the comment?

            • Since our PG situation seems to be a hot topic, let me add this for discussion. First, I'm not taking sides, but posing a situation.

Many here think Taylor would be wasting a year, not see any time at PG when CF starts playing, and would be 3rd in the pecking list. If true, where will he be next year when PG junior juco Daishon Smith arrives, and Conner is also a junior, who may have been FVV backup at point? Will CF's most valuable asset to the team as shooting assassin and zone buster be lessened, heightened, or unaffected if he plays mostly point?

As far as Taylor, whether he red-shirts or not, he will gain most of his "Shocker education" in practices as FVV most definitely be playing 27-32 minutes per game. I do hope that it is closer to 27-28 mpg as I want him healthy, rested, and strong late in the season. Ron, too, needs to be ready for the late season. I don't know if Taylor is ready to backup FVV right now, but those duties will fall on Ron until CF is eligible and I believe that will hurt his overall performance for the team during that time and add additional minutes per game.

              Just points to munch on.

              • Some bold predictions:
Barring injury, Zach Brown will be better his senior year than Ron will be this year.
Landry Shamet will be in the NBA when he finishes his degree.
Ty will have a sophomore slump as he adds arc to his shot. Then he will be the most prolific scorer in WSU history.
X will give Hamilton a clinic on intimidation and will become "Mini-X".
Rashard Kelly will be better than Cle was, and will not be here for his senior year, but if he is, WSU will again be in NC discussions.
Only 2 of these will come true.

                Now an observation.
Ron cannot run point on this team. They were better when JR ran point. Ron is best when he creates his own offense away from the ball. Zach is better on D than some scholie players, and that's not slighting anyone. JR is capable of being a game manager if called upon, even if the game is not in hand. Brett will also see time this year. Brett is also awkward. Add Fred to this team and some real offensive sets and we have the #1 team in the country.

I'll be interested to see Friday's game unfold. WSU is well coached, that's what I know today.
At the first of the game, we were not as aggressive as we need to be and as aggressive as the officials were calling the game. We gave too many open looks. We had no fouls for at least the first 5 minutes. We need to learn to adjust to how the game is called earlier. We improved after 10 or so minutes had lapsed.

Comparing to Ty to Frankamp is also tough too. I understand the good Doc has more data than the rest of us, but we have seen very little of Frankamp after spending a semester practicing with the Shockers.

This is an amazing problem to have. One of the most talented teams we've ever had.
There is a reason why Gregg talked about freshmen redshirting. There is a reason why Gregg has made comments regarding Conner being in the rotation when he begins play in December. Read between the lines.

                    • I'm a sucker for some McDuffie. That dude will not red shirt. He can help us today with around 10 min per game. Some have compared him to Cle. IMO, MM has way better handles and court vision than Cle. Dude was dropping dimes and penetrating to the basket.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

                      • I don't know what 'it' is. But it was obvious Ron Baker had 'it' when he was a redshirt freshman, and if anything Shamet has way more of 'it' than Baker did.

The masses who think the joyride ends after these seniors graduate (and that will hurt, they are fantastic) are going to be sorely disappointed.

                        • FVV is such a good point guard, we're spoiled when he's running our team. Ron's been the defacto backup out of necessesity, but the team is better when Ron's at the 2, even if that means having JR, Ty or Conner as the first backup.

Juniors - Daishon Smith, Conner Frankamp, Zach Brown, Rashard Kelly, Shaq Morris
Sophomores - Ty Taylor II, Landry Shamet, Peyton Allen, Markis McDuffie,Eric Hamilton, Rauno Nurger
Freshman - CJ Keyser, Brett Barney (assuming RS)

Allen should be a redshirt Sophomore next year.
