what's the matter with you guys lobbying for a taylor redshirt?
I'm not on Ty at all. Conner knows the system MUCH better. I promise you he's a better defender. Is he going to get more athletic steals? No. Conner is a MUCH better passer. He won't turn the ball over and right now TT is a turnover waiting to happen.

Ty has a LOT of upside. I have NO problem if he doesn't redshirt, in fact I'd LOVE to see him get some minutes this year. But he's not playing ahead of either Fred or Frankamp and we're not going to win every game by 40.

Well... I'm not lobbying but looking at it logically - he's behind FVV, Baker, and possibly CF and Landry. Having a senior PG 4 years from now with his skill set looks pretty enticing.

Him watching from the bench 90% of the time this season not so much

Both teams were prepared for the changes I believe. But EVERY time a hand went out...whistle.

I'll be interested to see Friday's game unfold. WSU is well coached, that's what I know today.

          • The game didn't seem to last any longer than other games last year. I thought I read where someone said that games were going to be 4 hours long because of the enforcement of the foul rule. The Shockers did a good job of not reaching and touching, at least in this game.

Lol why does it upset you so much for some to have a different opinion? He is good, but not ready to pick up the reins IMHO. Which shouldnt surprise anyone as Marshalls system isnt easy to run.

A redshirt year would do him good if the Shox can afford it. I think they can, but it isnt up to me. I would rather have him 4 years after Fred than 3 if i am being selfish

Even if he is the 2nd best PG on the team right now, which i am not sure he is, it isnt by a large margin. Save his elidgibility if you can.

                • Using one game to decide who will redshirt is really silly. Gregg has had way more time to evaluate. We should know by next Friday who will RS, anyway. Comparing to Ty to Frankamp is also tough too. I understand the good Doc has more data than the rest of us, but we have seen very little of Frankamp after spending a semester practicing with the Shockers.

This is an amazing problem to have. One of the most talented teams we've ever had.

no need to redshirt him. he'll get it going later in the season just like van vleet did in his freshman year. he can help the team this coming march with big-time defense. athletic pg's don't just fall from the trees.. unless it's in the acc (but maybe you want them redshirted in the mvc). he's special, as dickie v. would say.

oh, mcduffie shouldn't redshirt either, which some people here seem to have wanted also, for whatever reason.

Exact same thing I mentioned to my son...Landry is SMOOTH.

                      • I've drank a few High Life's this afternoon, so please feel free to let me have it, but here is how I'm thinking...

Logically speaking, if anyone is considering redshirting Taylor, then Shamet should be in the discussion as well.

At true PG, there is FVV and Taylor. At the 2, there is Baker, Frankamp, Brown, Shamet. Now I know Shamet started and he looked good, but from a pure numbers standpoint, Taylor needs to be active and playing this year so that he is ready for next year to take the reigns. We will not be starting Connor and Shamet next year at the 1 and 2. So Taylor needs to have some experience and obviously that can't happen if he redshirts.

McDuffie is the real deal. He is going to be phenomenal.

We have soooo much talent, it is a shame that they all can't play 20 minutes a game, but freshman used to not play so much, so we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions about wasting eligibility years. We are going to need guys to graduate because we are only going to be bringing in high level recruits every year.

Landry appears to have the best attributes of David Kyles, Toure Murry, and Ron Baker all rolled into one. Really excited to see this year's freshman and sophomore classes mature.

                            • 1. Hawaii needs a better weight program.

                              2. Most of our guys have really long arms.

                              3. On a floor full of quick guys, Tyrone Taylor was easily the quickest.

                              4. Anton Grady will be first-team all Valley.

                              5. Shamet (rhymes with damnitt) would start most years.

                              6. Bret Barney would be a scholarship player under Turgeon, and may end up being one under HCGM.

                              7. Tom Bush still does dumb stuff.

                              8. Shaq is cut, really really cut.

                              9. Our sound system blows. Freakin awful, couldn't understand nuttin.

                              10. I wore shorts and sandals to the game. What a beautiful day.

                              • Taylor is a faster version of Ragland. He will equal Ragland's senior stats as a junior. He will be stronger. He will have a better, stronger, and deeper supporting cast around him than Ragland had. Our future is bright.
