I would say that a redshirt may still be in play for Taylor. HCGM has already said that Frankamp will be in the rotation when he is eligible. He said tonight that he want sure what the Frosh players will decide.

WHAT!? If that's the case, I retract my negative "pop it, ill-advised, from anywhere" statements and officially convert them to "holy cow, he is gonna be good."

If he has a body like that and has a green light from HCGM from anywhere on the floor, he gon be good.

I don't know what you do with Taylor. For all his poor shot selection, he can get his shot about anytime he wants, and he's ridiculously athletic. But he's not going to play ahead of Fred or Frankamp.

Those freshmen, all of them, have skills. A lot of skills.

Right now? Yes.

I think Evan is a better "matchup nightmare" for opponents as a four. He actually uses leverage to create havoc on defense and is hard for 4's to guard.

Also, he is in the way of Zach Bush at the three. Can Evan put weight back in quickly?

With that said that was a positive scrimmage for almost all involved. This incoming class oozes upside.

I'm pretty giddy remembering there will be the best point guard, and maybe best player in the NCAA will be playing with what we saw today. Then after the first few games add in CF. We are going to be tough.

Yes. I'm going to sound like I'm down on Taylor. I'm not. I think he looks like a good freshman, but he looked really good today ONLY because he was hitting his shots. They were not good shots. They were out of the flow of the offense. He drove to the basket on one play and had one of our big 3/4s wide open on the wing every bounce, but he had made up his mind to shoot it. He was bailed out by a foul. I don't recall any good passes. He got blown by a couple of times on defense but someone was in the middle to step up and stop them.

He scored really well and didn't look lost at all. He has real talent and could help this team this year in a reserve role. His best basketball is ahead of him, but he's not as ready as Shamet or Conner. He would do well to redshirt and put on weight.

I know it's only an exhibition and the impressions might be wrong, but Grady > Carter.

I had that same thought multiple times throughout the game. I see now what made Marshall so excited about landing the young man. We may wish we had him for another year before this season is over.

If Nurger and Barney are Rd shirting, I say no way. We will have games where Morris and Grady both get 2 first half fouls. His presence will be needed. He is a big athletic boy that can shoot.

Landry Shamet is one of those silky smooth athletes who just seems to be gliding and is much faster and quicker than it appears. Dave Bing comes to mind when watching Landry.

no, he's not, at pg or defense.. maybe shooting, yes (but if you'll notice, taylor scored more than shamet did today). and you don't bring in an acc-level-athlete-pg that played at one of the best prep schools in the country, that picked wichita state over texas, to redshirt him. that kid is a greyhound.

what's the matter with you guys lobbying for a taylor redshirt?
