It will be interesting to see if Nurger or any of the second year players play on Saturday based on Marshall's comments on burning redshirts and this game. Said the rules allow incoming freshman to play in exhibition games and still redshirt but returning players cannot if they are going to redshirt. I didn't know that.

He also told OSU Coach Ford that he wasn't sure if he would have the luxury of redshirting anyone with the way the games may be called this year. He said to expect a lot of fouls and a slow game. Better allow 4 hours between games if you have doubleheader scheduled.

I caught that too; coach also mentioned his comment to Travis Ford about not being able to redshirt anyone because of the new fouling rule and said there needs to be 4 hours between tournament games. Yikes! I'd be interested to get @ShockRef:'s take (where the hell has he been anyway?) on the new rule.

Someone should check with coach on the radio show, make sure he feels comfortable with their ability to shoot free throws if there's gonna be a lot of fouls.

I am a little concerned with Fred's hamstring injury. That is not one of the more common of injuries in basketball but they nevertheless can be kind of a nagging injury that can easily re-occur. In fact, against OSU Fred apparently tweaked his hammie for the 2nd time this fall. You rest those things and you feel like they are totally healed then they strike again. Need to get that resolved and then take as many precautions as possible to avoid a chronic situation. I do not expect to see Fred in the game against HPU regardless of his strong desire to play.

Coach Marshall doesn't seem to enthused about it either but he said they didn't ask for his opinion.

Well, that should highlight the importance of depth. There may be games where the teams finish four-on-four.

Not at all concerned about foul calls. Our undefeated season they started increasing the foul calls, worked pretty well for us. Anyway, despite what they say, fouls will even out by conference play and I don't care what they say, officials outside of November aren't going to call more than 20-25 fouls in a half.
