I thought I remember reading in one of the countless Sully articles that there were comments of Rashard showing a lot of improvement. I don't think he'll continue to look lost, but like Shockda said, he might still slide down the depth chart due to others improving over him.

Saying this makes me throw up in my mouth a little. But Self is a good coach.
Not the best coach in the state, however. Also, he is not as good of a coach as he THINKS he is. He is a big ***** as well.
It needs to be November!!!!"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

I'm not blind. I'm probably the furthest from it. I'm well aware of Bill Shelf's resume. With all of the supposed talent he assembles, he sure underachieves a lot with it in the postseason. Sure he meets expectations occasionally, but more often than not, especially lately, his teams suck a nut and fall short.
My main point is who cares if a Shocker fan on a WSU board doesn't think Bill Shelf is the greatest coach in basketball history. Is that really that surprising to see? If you wanna make a singular point as an "unblinded Shocker fan" and say Shelf is a god, then go for it. But to actually get defensive about it and engage with fellow Shocker fans about the illustrious history of Kansas basketball in the Shelf era is a bit over the top IMO. If a Shocker fan on a Shocker board wants to think Bill Shelf's coaching sucks cucumber salad, then let them have at it.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

It was directed at you and anyone else who complains about a few posters presenting an alternate, unpopular viewpoint.
I'm pretty sure he wasn't the one who brought up KU. If people don't want KU discussion, then don't bring them up. If they don't want their claims of KU's abilities, or lack thereof, to be challenged, don't make the claim. And even more so, attempts to bring down anyone who strays from the "KU sucks" narrative wreaks of insecurity.
Bring something to the discussion besides resorting to "they're probably a KU fan" allegations. That's weak.

But seriously, who actively defends KU or Bill Self on a WICHITA STATE message board? I mean I have no problem with the statement that Bill Self is a good coach. It's reality. But to argue back and forth over it? Save it for a neutral board.

KU does suck and will always suck. It doesn't make me insecure. The ones that seem to be insecure about things are the posters that are flying to Bill Shelf's back at every turn in the road. If you wanna turn this into a Bill Shelf honorary thread, then another website would probably be advised for those posters. Maybe they're not true KU fans. Maybe they're dual WSU-KU bandies, I dunno.Deuces Valley.

I've been wanting to stay out of this, but - like a zombie - it WILL NOT DIE!
Self lost his team in the second half against the Shox. It takes a great coach to win a NC. A great coach doesn't lose the attention and focus of their team in the second half of a tourney game to get to the S16.
Right now, Self is trying to be Calipari and it isn't working. Self doesn't seem able to convince his players that - even with their natural talent - they need to listen to what he says. It seems Self is recruiting the lower end of the "-and dones". Their career is already made, so they get out of KU as fast as possible.
Calipari seems to get tthe top end of the "-and dones". 5* players for Calipari have to earn PT, so they listen to their coach. The top end of the "-and dones" are also more likely to be coachable. That's why they're the top end. Self doesn't get those guys. The results Self is getting lately indicate he's not getting coachable 5* players. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Great post Aargh. Cal gets more top 5's first. Maybe cause he's coached in the NBA before. I dunno. Perhaps the bubble coach should go do that. Then if and when he goes back to college coaching he can do what the Kentucky coach does.FINAL FOURS:

So, we are ranked in the top 10 by various experts in Offense and Defense. I love the way 3G and his Staff recruit, but we never fall into the Top 10, or even close, in recruiting. How can this be possible?
Think back to the Season we were picked to finish 4th in the Valley race and landed smack-dab in the Final 4. We probably had more key injuries that very Season by far than any other team that Danced. We won 4 huge games at that Dance including the Zags who had assembled a very good team. How is all of this possible versus teams that bring in such high ranked recruits versus ours?
3G has an eye for underrated players that are hungry to play, win, and play team ball. He then molds them together with at least 8-10 solid players that can all contribute. Playing time is not promised upfront to our players but rather earned in the trenches when we are not even watching as fans. Our scouting reports tend to always find strengths that our foes thrive at and contain them into a mild roar at prime time. The competition within our own roster is fierce and various skills will be called on in match-ups that we need to implement these strengths.
Thus in the scheme of things, The Marshall Law has turned our Program into among the best in the Country. Here is the spooky-good of all of this as we move forward. Now, 4 and 5 star recruits all know about Wichita State and our success. As we keep upgrading the talent we bring in as we have been, maybe instead of just being a top rated offense and defense and ranked in the top 10 in the Country, we might just also have some new and improved rankings in recruiting too?
Our Shocks this Season have key experienced Senior leadership, more shooters and scorers, and an improved team in rebounding and rim-protecting IMO. Stay tuned because it will all unfold before we know it.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Programs like Kentucky are for showcasing talent, especially the one-and-dones. HCGM's program has become one that is a proven place to DEVELOP talent. I agree, if the raw talent coming in keeps rising, so long as the player is willing to put in the work, we should have a lot "you ain't seen nothin' yet" moments.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss
