Only worth a 2 game suspension against JoBlo State and Alaska Southern. Might as well let it fly.

            ... No really, deuces.

Coach Muller clears things up

The weary Redbirds attended the first day of fall semester classes Monday. That included sophomore forward Deontae Hawkins, who was indefinitely suspended for violation of team rules after two games in Madrid. The final two games were in Barcelona.

After being suspended, Muller said Hawkins flew home to Dayton, Ohio, before returning to campus.

"He went to Dayton only because if we sent him to Chicago there's no ride (for him)," said Muller. "There was a lot of speculation (on the Internet), and it's extremely disappointing to me to hear what some people are saying about it."

NORMAL — The end result of spending 10 days together while playing four exhibition games in Spain might not be known for a while for Illinois State's basketball team.

Wow, speculation on the internet. Who'dda thunk it?

Speculating tends to happen. You know how you fix that? You make an official statement.

Dan Muller is disappointed that people speculate negative things about his players. I wonder if this type of speculating keeps happening because it seems to always be the case over there.

Is muller really expecting people to NOT assume his players are all troublemakers?

Soooo .. they were willing to spend the money on a special last minute flight from Spain to Dayton (which probably went through Chicago), but they weren't willing to pony up for a ride from the airport? They don't have ANY available resources to come get him? Can't call an Uber?

As weird as it sounds, Stickboy, it's possible that there might have been some sort of esoteric NCAA violation involved in the additional transportation from Chicago.

Don't ask me why, because I don't follow the intricacies of the NCAA rules about extar benefits and have neither the time nor the desire to start. Still, it occurred to me as a possible explanation for what is otherwise obviously something about which one might wonder.

As for the speculation, I suspect there's ten times more of that on IllSt-related Internet outlets than there is here, so probably quite a bit. But it's true that his guys seem to provide a lot of fodder for speculation.

Thats probably true. Though I bet the rule is something like "you are allowed to proved transportation from the airport, but only if the travel distance is between 32.3 and 34.7 miles. Anything above or below that will be a Level 3 violation"

I guess I missed it. Why did they send him home in the first place?

They didn't say. And then they got pissy when people made guesses about it on the internet.

If you don't fill in the blanks, everyone who cares enough will. It's called human nature. Someone should introduce the concept to Muller.
