We were seriously beating Gonzaga in the first half when the referees decided to change the way they were calling fouls. We were at a disadvantage for the rest of the half because we had to sit some of our best offensive players, Olynik was protected, and Gonzaga came back. That was unlucky.

Haha try to look at it from the other teams view too. If what notes dame did against us was considered unlucky, then what we did to Gonzaga is sure as hell lucky. It goes both ways. It's hard to look past your subjective biased view when it comes to sports, but things aren't usually as good or bad as it seems

You were the one who said that they were unlucky and we were lucky because we came from behind in the last 10 minutes. If one is not logical, then the other is illogical too. Any team may need a break now and then to put together a run but we earned out way to the Final Four. No Luck involved.

We probably don't disagree that much. My point was that everyone has fortunate and unfortunate circumstances in the NCAA Tournament. I get tired of hearing the WSU fan apologists who don't believe that we belong where we are today, and every year we have to prove again that we belong. I kind of expect it from it from the arrogant crowd (usually KU fans) who are too ignorant to know better.

I highly disagree. In 2012, we got a very underseeded VCU team that played a gimmicky defense. It's hard to plan for a team like that in a tournament setting. In 2013, we got a Pittsburgh team that were predicted to be a Final Four team by many.. and ended up having one of the hardest roads to the Final Four ever, according to Ken Pomeroy. In 2014, we got a very talented Kentucky team that clicked at the right time, but also played one of their best games not just of the year, but in their program's history. If we got lucky one year, I'd say it'd be 2015 with the way our bracket was set up, but Indiana still shot out of their minds and Notre Dame was shooting line drives that were somehow going in.

I'd say we've been far from lucky, but when you play solid defense and have great backcourts (both we've been fortunate to have since Marshall's been here and have only gotten better), you can win in the NCAA Tournament.

We got pretty lucky getting an overrated, weak Kansas team in 2015.

In that sense every team that plays a B12 team in March is lucky, though. Except Creighton.

One of those pointless offseason threads, but what does everyone feel is the key to WSU being able to win a Championship next season?

The simple formula for teams to make runs in March is to dominate their opponent in one of several key areas and keep the other areas fairly close.

1. Defense
2. Turnovers
3. Rebounding
4. Shooting overall
5. FT shooting
6. Shooting from 3

Duke won the turnover battle by 10 against Gonzaga, Kentucky shot 53.2% overall/50% from three/made more FT's than Notre Dame attempted, Wisconsin shot 66.7% from three against Arizona, Michigan State held Louisville to 35% shooting from the field.

One thing all of these Final 4 teams have in common is that they have strong, athletic front-court players to go along with great guard play.

The way to win basketball games is to score more efficiently through high percentage 2's or 3-point shooting and to have more possessions through rebounds or turnovers, tournament or not.

Whoever wins the formula points per possession times possessions wins the game, literally. All 6 of those things I listed lead to a better margin of efficiency or possessions so I suppose it is a good list.

I'm a KU fan but I'm from Wichita I think wsu is a good team and will have a good year, but KU for the first time in a while has an expierenced squad both of the too main Kansas teams (kstate basketball lol) but I think KU will be the better team sorry die hard wsu fans (or bandwagoners for wsu they can be the same)
