Had that game just been later in the tournament, I think it would have been considered one of the best games in college basketball history...especially if Fred hit the shot.

Give them a break. They will hang their hat on ANYTHING right now. :) I mean, this guy is hanging his hat on a Bleacher Report article here....

It's gotta be tough to get confronted with reality that hard.

"The Shockers owned the next eight minutes. In one stretch, they made seven shots, including five 3-pointers, and four free throws. They went on a 23-10 run. Eight consecutive possessions went like this: jump shot, 3-pointer, 3-pointer, 3-pointer, jump shot, two free throws, 3-pointer, 3-pointer.It was striking, this run, and it said less about the Zags’ propensity to require the Heimlich maneuver come March and more about what can happen in the craziest of N.C.A.A. tournaments when a team gets hot."

"Nine possessions. 23 points. A six-point deficit turned into a seven-point lead in just over seven minutes. The opponent, the top-ranked team in the land, had scored 1.25 points per possession during the surge, a figure that would have led Division I for the season. The Zags didn’t choke. They were beaten by one of the greatest stretches of clutch offense we’ll ever see."

I had never bothered to do the (simple) math before, but the Shox had 2.56 points per possession over that 7 minute stretch. Crazy.
