AE has played some tough defense, improved on his rebounding, and tonight was a scoring machine. He reminds me of a player that will work hard and keep improving. 6a.m. workouts with the roosters, RC, and hopefully JT as they start tomorrow in preparing for next Season. I'm also excited about this recruiting class that will be awesome. Maybe several of them can be here much of the summer.
The best thing about AE's performance is that it didn't just come from no where. He has clearly been figuring out how to be effective at this level for a number of games down the stretch. His final game of the season was his best, but it was the culmination of steady improvement.
The scary thing is that what AE needs most is strength. The fact that he was already figuring out how to use his length to be effective before a summer in the weight room bodes well for his future.

Mad Hatter, I agree with you and well stated. Aaron has a nice shot, lots of arc, very high release, and extremely hard to guard against. I like the fact that his game is developing in the paint, and getting rebounds. He adds some strength, and he could be a very dangerous player for us.
How long has it been since we had a freshman put up a double-double with 20 points??? Anyone know?
Ramon is going to lift next year's team on his shoulders and get them going, I'm willing to bet on it, and he is a warrior!!!
Not trying to steal any of Aaron's fire--he was great last night, but as many of you are probably in agreement on, I for one can't wait to see what AJ Hawkins will bring to the table.
Hopefully he and Ramon will really bond and when the new guys come in, they can become the leaders. The youngsters (Stutz, Murray, Kyles) would do well to follow their lead.
From the first time I saw Aaron I thought, "is he REALLY a 3? He looks like an undersized Kevin Garnett." After that monster block he had in that one home game I thought the same thing. 6'9" (and coach says he's he's grown to be a legitmate 6'9", he was 6'7" and change when measured at the beginning of the year) is a good height for a PF, and if he really does have the shooting stroke and spot-up skills he's reported to have, he could be a VERY good combo forward for us.
Every picture I see of Hawkins, and even when I saw him face-to-face at the open house, he looks like a tiger in a cage, like he's just waiting for the door to open so he can rip things up.
Ramon, I think, has officially inherited the team leader role from Matt. Barring catastrophe, I easily see him AVERAGING a double-double next year.
Everything I've heard about Garrett is that he's a real character guy, which means he will listen to his elders. It'll be rough on him, especially when Valley play starts, but by next year's tournament, he'll be a player that will need to be respected by our opponents.
There's still an awful lot of 'if's: IF JT finally buys into the work ethic....IF Hannah is as good as advertised and is ready to play D1 point....IF Kyles and Murray are effective scorers at the 2....IF Mantas comes back 100%....IF Ehimen makes it here....IF we can avoid the injury bug....but now this is PERSONAL for Marshall, and I don't see him getting clobbered like this twice.
Man, I almost HOPE some fair-weathers don't renew their tickets so the 118/30 crew can become the 118/20 crew or even the 118/10 crew. I guarantee Altman could here me if we were down there.
One thing that might really help that some might have overlooked... Ramon and Clevin are friends who played on the same JUCO team last season. I think Clevin will work just as hard as Ramon, so I am feeling pretty good about our point guard as long as injuries stay away.
If I recall correctly, GM said on one of his recent radio shows on Mon eve or in a post game interview that Aaron Ellis has actually been growing more lately. If so, that puts him at taller than 6 foot nine inches. The paper keeps listing him at 6 ft 7 inches, but that must be because the Go Shockers roster lists him incorrectly or something. At the start of the season, GM said he is a legimate 6 foot 9 inches.
On the team poster Ellis and Hawkins appear to be standing side-by-side. From that perspective, Ellis looks to be 2-3" taller than the Hawkins, who is listed at 6'5". With him having already turned 20 last August, I doubt he has grown since arriving here.
My guess is that the 6'7" is just an incorrect listing and he's really 6'8". 6'9" seems like a bit of a stretch.
But who knows. For some reason, there is always a game being played when it comes to listing the height of basketball players.

Easily? When was the last time that happened around here? Perhaps since the days of X? I don't believe Miller, Wilson, Arnold, Cooper or Sasha achieved it.

The hard part of that is the rebounds, and that's Ramon's strength. From what I understand he's working more on his scoring skills, so if he can maintain or improve his rebounding, and significantly improve his scoring, I could easily see him averaging 10/10, not 25/15 or 20/20, but 10/10.
