11 thousand may be good attendance for FBS. I know that Pittsburg State averages 10,500 in Div. 2 Too bad it drains money from their basketball program and they can only pay their coach $200,000

Don't get me wrong, their attendance would be bad if MoSt was an FBS team. But top 30% of their division is just fine. They're a perfectly above average FCS crowd.
I suppose it's decent, but 8,700 in 2013 is also bottom three in their league and only 200 ahead of SIU. At the same time, finishing 37th in 2013 was the best they did in the six or seven samples I looked at. They did have years where they averaged more fans but finished Lower on the list. This whole FCS thing is a tough nut to crack, you have teams drawing 20,000 and teams drawing 1,500. You look down at Division 2 and there are a handful of schools that draw larger crowds than many FCS programs. Pittsburgh State draws 10,000 a game. That is awesome and stunning.

I wouldn't have such a hard time accepting Missouri State's football as "decent" if we heard less of their chatter about jumping to FBS. I can't see even the Sun Belt as seeing 8,700 as decent for a team wanting to join their league. I also see a lot of energy devoted to a sport that has gotten them nowhere.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Missouri State's attendance would be atrocious in FBS. Only one team in the FBS averaged less than 10k attendance in 2013: Eastern Michigan. Only three averaged under 15k, adding in UAB and Florida Atlantic.

MoSt's attendance is just relative to their division. They're better than average in the FCS. They would be absolute pits in FBS. So "decent" now, but in no way something I'd look at and think an FBS conference is chomping at the bit to get their rabid 8700 in.

And that is what has probably shaped my opinion of their attendance sucking. On one hand, I see SIU averaging a little less than 10,000 a game, and I think, that is respectable. On the other hand, I hear all of this talk from Missouri State fans about moving to C-USA, AAC and Sun Belt, then I look at their attendance, it's about the same as the Salukis, and I think it's an embarrassment. Pittsburgh State has more business looking Sun Belt than Missouri State.

Man I'd love to see Pittsburgh State in FBS over so many current programs.
