@SHOXMVC:, great recap and thank you for sharing. It's always nice to learn about the person as opposed to just the latest statistics so I greatly appreciate the insight. As a long-distance admirer (but Wichita native), I have no personal contact with the coaching staff or the players but your story re-enforced my own gut feeling about 3G and what he looks for in a scholar-athlete. And the unfortunate comment by Kentucky's Andrew Harrison the other night reaffirmed my belief in the Marshall Plan.

BTW, haven't seen anything regarding the dunk contest, how'd he do?

5th...as Tekele learned the hard way in the competition you MUST make your first dunk on your first attempt. Honestly, it was the worst dunk comp I've ever seen. The participants really struggled with their first attempt success.

My long lost brother from other mother. You were missed...glad to have you back. I would give you a Readers Digest version of what's been happening around Shocker news, but it has actually been quiet and peaceful.

@SHOXMVC: can you teach Tekele how to hit a two iron? Seriously dude that was awesome. Thanks!

I had asked on another thread about TC's future and the response was simply Euro ball.
I did so hoping that if pro ball was not in the cards that the basketball program do something
to keep him part of our program/family.

Tekele Cotton is now and forever will be a key part of this program and member of the Shocker family. I do expect that Tekele will be inducted into the Shocker Hall of Fame 5 years from now.

Great story. My wife showed me a picture of Tekele with a wonderful lady on Easter. She was so happy you could just see it on her face and his also. if this is the same lady, my wife visits with her on the weekends and thinks very highly of her an if that is true then Shoxmvc and I have a few tings in common and go back a very long ways like to the disco days!

1972 - I'll try to make my point clearer. Once TC's playing career is over I think it
would be great if he was offered a position in some capacity in our athletic department,
maybe even basketball related if remotely qualified which he surely has already
                    demonstrated.

Bell bottoms and everything. PM me, we can clear up whether our tracks passed in our innocent youth, or in the pen.

I understand. My point is this does not have to happen to keep Tekele as part of the program/family. That is already set in granite.

I've been with Tekele for about 10 hours over the past 3 years, so I really don't know him that well. Tekele is very shy, and soft spoken, so I don't know if coaching is in the cards (although what a wealth of knowledge he has and could pass along). All I know now is his determination to play at the highest level possible is off the charts.

Totally agree with your statement 72 ! Maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part he would
consider remaining in the area and working in some capacity within the athletic department.

Ironically, he is majoring in communications at Wichita State although I have to admit I do not know all what that encompasses.
