In the non-conf alone, KU played the #1, 7, 9, 11, and 19th ranked defenses (based on KenPom's defensive efficiency ranks). I'm not sure the "they should have scheduled better defensive teams so they would have been prepared for the Shox" angle really works here.

Perry has played at KU 3 years now. 2 of those 3, WSU played deeper in the NCAAs. The other year, both teams lost in the same round.

How crazy is it that a high school stud out of Wichita, who choose KU over WSU, could possibly play his entire career at KU without ever outlasting the hometown team that he turned down?!?!

In the post-game presser, Self said he didn't have them prepared. I assume he knows who they played previously.

Preparing for a game is more than playing tough teams in previous games. I'm sure Self was referring to the stuff he did in practice, the film they watched, the game plan they developed, etc., not to the schedule KU put together.

Either that, or he was simply using coach speak. "We weren't prepared" is typical language coaches use after a loss, whether they really mean it or not. It sounds better than "we prepared well but then went out and got whooped anyway."

And WSU's three years were:

A Final 4 and loss to eventual National Champs in the Final Four, the 4-point loss was the closest game Louisville played during the entire NCAA Tourney.
An undefeated season with a loss to the eventual Nation Runner-up in the round of 32. A game many still claim to be the game of the tourney that year.
Beating the team he chose (KU) to get to a Sweet 16.
