I don't think anyone would question putting Cotton, FVV, and Baker's jerseys in the rafters.

The AA requirement is silly and arbitrary, and is not something that Cotton could ever realistically grab. They aren't going to reward a guy for being the best lock-down defender in the country for three consecutive years.

But no question, without him, WSU is not the national power it is right now. The three of them have brought so much attention to the city and the university, and so much money to the university. Honor that man as much as possible.

There was an interview recently where his mom said she told HCGM when he was recruiting Tekele that Tekele was going to change this program. When I read that I teared up.

I get the AA requirement to retire jerseys or numbers, but Tekele is a winner. He's a hard-worker. He's humble. Every player on the team says he has a great sense of humor. Tekele's hard-nosed defense epitomizes what our program is about. If we don't retire his jersey, I'd support changing our mascot to the fighting Tekele's.

I would definitely question it. Cotton is great. He has won a ton of games. However, i simply don't think he is rafters worthy. He has been a PART of a lot of good things, but he's still clearly the #3 guy on this team.

I agree with this 100%. Cotton is a Shocker Hall-of-Famer and someone we will always remember fondly, but can't retire his number.
